Hey guys, been hearing about these relatively new Gran Habanos today, and I'm thinking of picking one up at my local shop. Anyone here smoked one before, and if so, what do you think of them? They sound good to me, Corojo wrapper with Nicaraguan and Costa Rican filler for a good price.

The Number 5 is a great smoke, I had a box but a buddy of mine and I burned through them pretty quick...

I believe it is the best out of the line, although I have yet to try the new platimum series...

Great flavorful, thick smoke, very balanced with body and fairly complex....It's not the greatest out there, but bang for your buck it might be...

I will definately smoke those again...

Well, I just gave a No. 5 Churchill a try, $4.20 a stick at my local shop. 7" by 48 ring, Nicaraguan corojo wrapper with Costa Rican/Nicaraguan filler and binder. Pre-light aroma struck me as very pungent and interesting. As dark as the wrapper is, it is definately not a maduro, it had that characteristic spice of sun grown corojo. Starts out very peppery, settles into a good earthiness, very rich and with a generous draw that gives you plenty of smoke. The smoke was the best part, its aroma that is. It smelled just like my local cigar shop! I could swear they burn these as incense. Burn was alright, minor corrections kept it even. Sadly, half way through the smoke the wind kicked up and I had to scrap it soon after, as the burn went south fast. That however was definately a factor of wind and not construction. I'm gonna try another one soon, this time in better smoking conditions so as to go through the whole cigar.

At $4.20 a pop, this cigar is amazing. Full body, good corojo peppery/earthy flavor, and wonderful aroma. Fans of full bodied cigars would be doing themselves a disservice not to pick up a few at such a price.

I will hunt one down. I have seen them a few times, but didn't know anything about them. They sound like something I would enjoy, I love Nicaraguan tobacco.

Nice thing about Anchorage is there are around 5 different tobacco shops in town that i can find all these various cigars at.....I'll look into this one

I know that you've mentioned in the past your preference for mild tobaccos, and I'll just let you know now that this thing is NOT mild at all. Mine wasn't too harsh (looked like a pretty new box), but it was assertive and had very bold flavors. I would suggest taking it on a full stomach. This being said, I didn't get all the way through it, so it may become harsh towards the end, but the way it was going I doubt it.

Thank you much man, I still would mind taking a look at it...gauging prices, plus, i know other people that smoke cigars...they might enjoy a nice cigar as a gift

thanks man!

I acquired a box of these a few months back and I'm about half way through them.

I really like these; I find that they're great smokes. Starts off spicy but opens up with to a complex earthy, dark chocolate and coffee-toned body. The aroma is just wonderful. Reminded me of great times in the Caribbean. They're fairly strong so save it for after a dinner of steak of fine wine =D. I usually match this cigar with a snifter of Laphroaig 10yr old but also goes well with XO cognacs. Oh, one downside to mention is the construction. It tends to canoe and the wrapper never seems to keep up with the filler. It never kills my experience but it might be a major issue to some.

Anyways, go out and try one or two of these cigars. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Yeah, I found the construction to be average, but as I said before, minor corrections here and there kept it going alright.

Ordered another load of cigars yesterday, and this one was on the list. I think I'm leaning towards full bodied smokes. The light and medium sticks are fine and have their place, but a good full bodied cigar with a fine cognac is damn hard to beat!!!!! This is of course, is IMHO!!!!
