Aging just gets me angry.
I'm aging.
Another surgery and I'm pissed.
I'm pissed that I have to buy cigars and can't smoke them immediately.
Is there anyone who sells aged cigars.
I want to eliminate my risk of storage. Heat, humidity, bugs, the cleaning lady and my screw ups.
There must be a dealer somewhere in the USA where I can buy a box of cigars with age. They exist in Europe. I'd rather spend my money in the USA.
Help
In closing, I love cigars and all my new friends BUT F*** AGING.
Malone

I'm afraid to remind you that when you stop aging....well...you stop.

It's pretty obvious that you are not growing up, and that's the only part you can control.

As a slightly younger angry man...I salute you. :x

Malone, Yes, there are retailers our there that sell "aged" cigars. I know mostly from the cuban side of the house, but I have seen a few online dealers that claim to have aged cigars. I think the only problem with that situation is that you are really at the mercy of the vendor, and how much you trust that they are for real. I suppose it's just like anything else in this hobby that nurturing a good relationship with a vendor pays in spades.

As a side note, you will usually be charged a premium for sticks that are aged, just like a good single malt!

Hope that helps a little, their out there, who, I really don't have that info since I'm really not opposed to aging my own sticks.

Enjoy,
Paul

my local shop has recently been adding a few aged cigars to their sales humidor. The owner (who i trust and just went to his son's wedding) has been reducing his personal collection which means he is selling aged cigars. I will see what he has out there now and let you know. I know recently a box of hemingways made it up there but it was gone in a few days.... I did get one of the sticks from that box! He doesn't charge any extra for the sticks either so its a good deal.

You can try the Padron 1926's. They are aged around 4 to 6 years before being shipped to dealers.

well, almost all cigars are aged at least some time Mountnoir. Unless you watch them roll it in front of you, the tobbacco has been aged some. Products such as the Cusano 18 have been aged for 18 years, Gurkha Legends 8 years have tobacco that was aged for 8 years and so one. The difference in what Malone is talking about is the actual aging of the rolled product. The tobacco ages in the drying barns and so fourth, but when you are shooting for Plume and the culmination of years of correct temperature and humidity balancing the flavors or exposing more complexity of the tobaccos in the stick. This occurs after the stick is rolled. Allot of the products that claim to aged, are rolled from tobaccos that were aged, but the sticks themselves have not. I'm unsure about the Padrons, but I know the cusano's for sure are not aged after being rolled for 18 years?!

I believe I'm roughly on base with this, Experts back me up?

PS - Malone, did something happen to your stash to piss you off about the aging proces?

one problem that might have occured with his stash.... smoked em!
That problem happens to me a lot.

actually only one of the 3 fillers have been aged 18 years in the cusano 18s.

that's right, so, the stick itself is not aged 18 years...I think the wrapper on the gurkha's are what is aged the 8 years, but at any rate, just lends more info to the fact that aging a cigar is much different then buying and "Aged" cigar as advertised by a manufacturer.

I have not heard of any non-Cuban sites that have aged Cigars, although some research could proove me wrong...But I do know for sure that there are Cuban sites that have aged cigars....And they are pricey!!

Eclipse_Man pretty much said it all. ALL tobacco used to roll cigars is aged. SOME cigars are aged after rolling.

Personally, aging cigars, looking after your humidors, fiddling with humidifiers, etc. is part of the fun. It's what makes it a hobby that you can talk to your friends about. I think Malone is bucking for an aneurism, heart attack or maybe some new surgery.

Da Con-struck-shin godfodda needs tuh pay someone ta look afta his cigahz and take a break. Maybe needs tuh hit da beach scene down in duh Cuhribbeen aw sumtin' like dat.

Silly Man ! it is very easy to age cigars.
1st. Always buy twice as many as you expect to smoke.
2nd. Buy twice as often as you normally would.
3rd. Show a little restraint.
before you know it your humidor will be full of nicely aged cigars and you will be buying more humidors just like the rast of us.

Big Tom Makes a good Point!!

I have a box of Cien Anos Churchills that I smoke One every other other months, and log in a journal....a little aging experiment! But I think I am going to buy another and smoke one a year!!

Jose Blanco Says they get better and better through the years, he made them, so I want to trust him!!

You gotta let me know when those churchills come in Thor. I've been waiting and waiting for them to be back in stock :x

As for the question of aging...the past few years I've made a point of buying more than I'll smoke. Yeah I spend twice as much, and yeah I end up having to increase my storage space many fold, but the payoff is in the smoke.
And like BigTom said you gotta have restraint. No matter how much those boxes call to you
