I have read alot of recommendations for Lava (or Volcano) Butane - not too many smoke shops up my way. Any recommends of where I can get this? I tried a couple of places on-line and it was not in stock.

Also - how long should the fuel last in an average torch lighter - single flame? I don't have a ton of experience.

Thanks.

im about to give up on torch lighters. the one i have only last for about 5 or 6 20 second burns. this is just crazy to me. and i can never tell if the thing is full when i am filling it so i have to take the butane bottle with me whenever i want to have a cigar away from the house. its really annoying. i think i will just get a standard flame butane lighter from a gas station and just make do with that, when it breaks just buy a new one. im just tired of playing with that stupid torch.

Try Blazer butane at http://www.phatash.com. Any "triple filtered" butane, or "premium" butane should work, but in my experience Blazer is the best. It is highly recommended by many others "in the know" also. I would not recommend Colibri, as their butane, although shown as "premium", is about as good as their $100 lighters.

How long it will last depends on the individual lighter's fill chamber.

I need to fill up my lighters every time I go out, and they never last the duration of the night...

I always end up using matches with a useless piece of metal protruding from my pocket!!

Geez - I thought it was me with the lighters - I picked up a cheap torch and it lasted about 6-7 lights. Then I picked up a Colibri Arc on ebay pretty cheap - it was brand new - and it lasted about 5 lights. I kept a spare bic lighter in my golf bag which bailed me out both times.

Thanks for the info.

One more thing about butane lighters. SOME CAN be brought back to life. I have about a 30-40% success rate, although eventually the ones that go first will go again, long before their "rightful" time. Butane torch lighters are among the most stubborn consumer devices around. The directions must be followed carefully. They are sensitive, very high temperature, and effective instruments, but temperamental, and the expensive ones are the worst for function. Fashion yes, but who cares about fashion if you're standing around at the Republican fund raiser with an unlit cigar while five other guys/gals are into their fifth puff.

Ain't it the truth! As far as butane, I recently went into my local shop and he had a case and a half of the LAVA so I grabbed it all. Before that I'd been using Blazer, which worked great as well.

I have one of the z-plus zippo inserts, which is a butane single tourch lighter and am using vector fluid, I've yet to have it miss a light. I've had it about six months, give it no special treatment and it just keeps going and going.

The best lighter I have ever owned is my Dupont Extend
they go for $100 - $169 depending on where you get them!
If you can find it for $100 contact me I have a place to get them.
This lighter in over a year has never let me down!
I use it a lot!
6-7 cigars a day & it it always works!
I am very happy with the extend!
I am also going to that shop in 2 weeks so if anyone wnats one - now is the time to speak up!
Last time I was there there were about 6 left & I am getting another one so 5 of you can get in on this and I'll see if I can get him to knock
a few dollars off!

By the end of this week I'll have temporarily solved my storage problem when my frigidor goes online. Now I just need the willpower to not fill it up too quickly.

I've been doing 5 a day for a while and I thought I needed to cut down!!!

how do you find time to smoke 5 cigars a day? on average my smokes last an hour. thats 5 hours! lets see, 1 in the morning if your insane enough to get up with a full hour to spare before work, one durring lunch then you still have to squeeze in 3 more before bed. i guess that would be very doable if i smoked inside, id love to smoke while cooking dinner or somthing. but i sit on the porch while i smoke, 3 hours of that is just too much time to sit around! i assume yall dont get to smoke at work.
