This morning I was off from work, so I got up and fixed myself a ham and cheese omlet..yummy...by the time I finished it was alread 60 degrees out, so I poored another cup od Columbian Supremo, donned my slippers and robe and, with Wallace in tow, headed out to the patio to enjoy a cigar.
The selection was an Onyx Reserva Mini Belicoso, and I was blown away! From the first prelight draw, the toothy wrapper held a sweetness that lingered on my lips with each and every puff. The draw was nice and firm, yet not too tight. The thin plumes of grayish white smoke gave a sweet woodsie aroma that was quite pleasant even between puffs. This cigar started out rather mild, but had a lightly woody flavor that reminded me of well toasted bread. The smoke was very smooth through the nose with no burning sensation, and left a wonderful buttery texture in my mouth. The body built to a nice medium by the walfway point, yet the flavors remaind consistantly the same till the very end. I experienced some slight burn issues that required occassional touch-ups with the lighter, yet I find this to be the case with most maduros I smoke. The Onyx was a perfect morning smoke that complimented my coffee nicely. I have to say that is the best mild to medium non-cuban cigar that I have smoked to date (though I have many more to try) And will be on the top of my list for next purchases.
*NOTE: Wallace was more impressed with chacing robins in the yard than he was by the Onyx
