My New Favorite Cigar

This morning I was off from work, so I got up and fixed myself a ham and cheese omlet..yummy...by the time I finished it was alread 60 degrees out, so I poored another cup od Columbian Supremo, donned my slippers and robe and, with Wallace in tow, headed out to the patio to enjoy a cigar.

The selection was an Onyx Reserva Mini Belicoso, and I was blown away! From the first prelight draw, the toothy wrapper held a sweetness that lingered on my lips with each and every puff. The draw was nice and firm, yet not too tight. The thin plumes of grayish white smoke gave a sweet woodsie aroma that was quite pleasant even between puffs. This cigar started out rather mild, but had a lightly woody flavor that reminded me of well toasted bread. The smoke was very smooth through the nose with no burning sensation, and left a wonderful buttery texture in my mouth. The body built to a nice medium by the walfway point, yet the flavors remaind consistantly the same till the very end. I experienced some slight burn issues that required occassional touch-ups with the lighter, yet I find this to be the case with most maduros I smoke. The Onyx was a perfect morning smoke that complimented my coffee nicely. I have to say that is the best mild to medium non-cuban cigar that I have smoked to date (though I have many more to try) And will be on the top of my list for next purchases.

*NOTE: Wallace was more impressed with chacing robins in the yard than he was by the Onyx

nice, i just got some toro's in yesterday, cant wait to try em

Nice review there buddy!!! Now I have another cigar I need to try. so many cigars, so little time!!!!!

I used to smoke Onyx instead of lunch (during the boom). The wrapper color always amazed me.

Yep, Onyx Reserve is one of my favorites also. Very good smoke.

That was a great review. I got a chance during last years trout season to smoke an Onyx with over two years of age on it. You are right, it was one damn fine smoke!!! Nothing like sitting on the river bank, watching browns and brookies rising, while drinking a Blue Moon and smoking that Onyx!!

I love them, and the mini belicoso seem to taste the best of all the sizes and shapes.

great minds must think alike, the Mini Belicoso is the only onyx I have in my humidors !!
Enjoy, Vince

Glad to hear all the great reviews on the Onyx Reserva Mini Belicoso. My sister just came back from Las Vegas and she brought back one of these along with a Playboy by Don Diego Lonsdale. I'm looking forward to trying the Onyx this weekend when I go to the track.

I am counting the days till Shad season -
I do a lot of trout fishing - it's really good up here in the Poconos.
I do tend to smoke cheaper cigars while fishing or I find myself "sitting" and not fishing.
I like a very small ring gauge that I can hold in my mouth.
Even more so Shad fishing as it's all casting, reeling & fighting Fish!
Been a long time since I smoked a Onyx so I can't comment.
I do remember a very dark wrapper - always thought it was dyed?
Anyonew know?
