I had bought a box Cohiba Esplenditos from a smoke shop in Elk Rive, MN on May 18th of this year. I have had it in my closet with all the rest of my cigars since. I am down to my last two. The problem occured just yesterday. I was driving in my truck with a buddy of mine and all of a sudden I was not getting any somke. The cigar was still billowing from the other end and I was quiet puzzled. It turns out that I had moved the band just slightly and revealed two pin holes and a suiglly trench in my cigar. Needless to say I was angery.

The Question is, is this my fault, my sellers fault, cohiba's? And then the second part to the question is what can I do to prevent this in the future and will it sprend to others if they are all in tubes and plastic wrappers?

Beetles are part of cigar smoking -
That said there are steps we as smokers/collectors can take
and the cigar companies take as well.
(in that last part) cheap cigars are often the biggest problem
Bettles always seem to leave the cheap sticks & eat the very best cigars in your humidor first.

as a smoker/collector it is important to keep your cigars cool.
I like 65% humidity & 65 degree's, but 70/70 is fine (for beetles)
Well really I like 62% & 70 degrees.

If your worried about beetles now in the rest of your cigars look for info on freezing.

Thanks. I was reading somewhere else that if you freeze them it will get rid of the beetles. However there was disagrement as to wheather that would damage the stick.

There are a few thoughts on freezing -

There are a few ways reezer have to beto damage your cigars - the first is drying them out. Personally I'd triple bag my cigars before freezing.
Then leting them warm back up slowly is important or they can split.
BUT -
the real question is how cold does a freezer have to be?
I've heard most freezers just don't get cold enough.

All that said - I'd rather have frozen the beetles.

So Iguess my final question is would I want to do this to all my sticks when I first get them, if I am planing on putting them with other. And how long is a good amount of time to leave then freezing?

ive only frozen my cigars once... after i found a hole in one.

never found a hole in another. I froze them for two days.

my freezer gets down to 0. I could take them to work and freeze em there. our industrial freezer gets down to -15. thats damn cold.

ive never had a problem since. Of course i never let my house get above 73 anymore and my rh is at 65% so it isnt as likely to happen again.
