Me and the g/f went and finally went and saw this movie Saturday and I enjoyed it so much I figured I may as well give an attempt at a review.

The plot is pretty basic: It's the year 2027 and for some reason women have not been able to give birth for years, the youngest person in the world, an eighteen year old Argentinian male is murdered by a fan and the world goes into mourning like he was the pope. Fertility tests are mandatory, a suicide pill sells millions, every country in the world is in a state of anarchy except the United Kingdom which is pretty close as well. In the middle of this a former peace activist turned beaurecrat is kidnapped by his ex-wife who is a member of a violent underground immigration rights movement. She presents him with a dillema, a girl who has managed to get pregnant. Being a beaureucrat he has unlimited travel priviledge inside the country so he ends up trying to get the girl to another underground group that aims to restart the human race through this girl.

And it all goes from there. The story takes off and doesn't stop, action action action. I think of this movie as sci-fi/drama/adventure/mystery. The story itself is amazing, the cinemtography is great and the questions the movie raises make it more than just your usual big screen snoozefest. The movie raises questions about illegal immigration, reproductive rights, personal freedoms, civil liberties, terrorism and many more. It's one of those movies that when it ends you are left with a ton of things to ponder. My type of film.

Four and a half out of five stars.

Oh and one more thing, the battle scene between the Govt and the Radicals at the end of the movie is hands down one of the best extended (11 minutes I think) scenes I have seen in a movie in a long while. One long extended camera shot that is absolutely superb. Worth watching the movie just for that.

Great review Cloudy. I have been wondering if this movie would be worth going to see now or wait for the dvd release. Believe I will go see it now after reading your post. Later
