Value on older whisky

I have an older bottle of Canadian Club whisky dated 1969. I don't drink whisky and had considered selling the bottle if it had any value. (gotta buy more ammo) It's a full unopened bottle that still has the tax stamp sealed over the lid. Overall it's in great shape for an older bottle. Thanks for any advise.

If you are looking for specific and knowledgeable commentary, then wait until Hollow Point is around. Off the cuff, I would say you have a rarity there, and it probably is worth a heck of a lot more than it was 35 years ago. My suggestion would be that you could probably get a lot of money for it on e-Bay. Even if it's not considered any big deal, I'll bet there's someone out there who will pay big bucks just because it's an oddly rare item.

Didn't think to check E-bay. They don't seem to sell well on there. There are two bottle even older than mine and neither has gone over 20 bucks. Oh well, maybe Hollow Point will have better news. Thanks for the advise.

Just think about it. Somewhere out there I'd think there was someone who would think, WOW!!!, a bottle of Canadian Club from 1969!!! Not that it's considered any sort of top shelf whiskey, but back then it was, if I'm not mistaken. And the New York Jets won the Super Bowl back on January 12, 1969, the Knicks won the NBA Championship in June and the New York Mets won the World Series in October. Someone might want to have it just for reasons like that.

A 35 year old unopened bottle of anything, even bottled water is likely to become a collector's item, if not now, then perhaps when it is 40-50 years old. I mean, who would even have such a thing these days? So, don't despair, for time can make something ordinary into something that someone would pay dearly for.

When I was playing with baseball cards in the playground back in the mid-60's, who thought the cards we were tossing around would be worth so much today? I once had a collection of 66 consecutive TV Guides, all of 1970 and into 1971. My mother made me throw them out, because when kids start collecting stuff that eventually becomes a space issue, a parent will make a decision about what can go and what can stay. Do you know how much those stupid TV Guides are worth today?? :banghead: :argh: :fire:

So, hang in there. I'll bet someone will give you at least $100 for it, if not now, then maybe in a few years. Who knows, maybe $250???
