Alas I smoked the last of the three I had this evening. These were the pre-embargo qubans that were supposedly in US government possession while the courts battled over the legality of the cigars tobacco content, or something to that effect. I'm not sure how much I believe that, but hey it's still a good story and I enjoyed the cigar.

No special occasion... Just felt like it.

Now the question? Has anyone had poor experiences with these? The majority of things I've read had fairly poor reviews and I was just curious if anyone here had tried one.

I've had nothing but pleasant smoking experiences from the three I had. They had a pleasant taste and aroma, sort of a nutty / char and a rather abrupt finish (which is fine with me). They all had a near perfect burn and held a good ash. The only complaint I might have is that they were slightly stiff to draw, though not overly so. All in all I would rate it about an 8.5 out of 10.

I know that the enjoyment is completely relative, but again... I was just curious.

I know taste is subjective -

How long have you been smoking?

These were purchased unbanded from a cigar shop in the minneapolis / st. paul area while visiting relatives there about two years ago. Until that time I was unfamiliar with the pinar name.

I've been smoking cigars for about 8 or 9 years now. Not as long as some, but longer than others :) . These were my first experience witht them. Like I said, they were purchased unbanded so in retrospect and all fairness, I suppose there is a possibility that they were fake to begin with. I should have posted that earlier. Maybe I got someone's superior fake (which due to the story - I would imagine most are).

a buddy of mind gifted one of those for me to try, and it was allright. I would not go out of my way to smoke another one - there are too many cigars I have not tried yet, but I would say that it was decent enough.

Just my 1.95 cents worth.
