Ok, here's my review of the Partagas Series P No.2. Some of you may remember when I talked about my "adventures" with this stick (right Bloofy? )
The sticks look beautiful (ok, that's subjective and general) Their wrapper is a little bumpy, and construction is a little soft. Not squishy, but softer than many of my high priced stix. The burn was un-even, draw was fine, and produced a dark gray ash.
The smoke was very smooth, and I don't mean mild. Very creamy, with an aroma I have never sampled before. The taste was not as spicy as I was expecting (how do I know what to expect? Come on.) It was heavy, sitting on my palate and just wrapping itself around my taste buds like a child wrapped in a winter blanket; keeping me warm and comforted. The taste was very earthy (not a taste I am real familiar with) and it stayed with me in a good way for about 60 seconds after exhaling. There may have been hints of ammonia hidden in there somewhere, not sure. It had a chocolate echo, not cocoa; chocolate from far away.
The stick burned constantly for over an hour and a half, never going out. It did not burn hot, and I said a fond farewell to the nub with about an inch and a half left.
In short, one of the very best cigar experiences of my life.
Now, I am still not sure if these are the "genuine" article (how in the world can a cuban newbie be sure?), but I know that I want more; I want them now, and forever more.
