Just thought I would share my day so far with you as it has been such a great one!

Woke up at 0430 hours, prepared my troop for a dawn raid drill on an enemy specialising in a beach landing, followed by an insertion march and then taking out a militia packed village.

The battle plan was executed to perfection and I got a pat on the back from my Brigadier, which is always pleasing!

We got back to HQ at 0730 hours, had a quick breakfast, then carried out ceremonial drills - state funerals, trooping the colour, remembrance sunday etc.

In the afternoon we had an extensive rugby training session. Our grudge match against the Navy is coming and I want to be selected to play!

Rugby finished, and I settled back into the Mess hall a lit up my first cigar of the day. One of my newly purchased C10's from Cusano. I think this may be one of the best I have had. I mean they are a very consistent cigar, but this one has a little extra something about it. I lit it up, and the room filled with a beautiful thick smoke. The draw was nice and easy, a real pleasure to smoke. The ash clinged on for dear life and dropped off of it's own accord. I've been smoking it for about 40 minutes and it just keeps getting better and better. I'm being bombarded with all sorts of flavours and aromas. Beautiful!

We have one of our formal dinners tonight, and I can't decide which cigars to take! Decisions decisions - a Montecristo #3, a C10 and maybe a Davidoff, or a Don Carlos #3? - help!

Life is good - hope you have all had an equally enjoyable day!

Ah well, up early again tomorrow - anti-terrorist plans to finalise and execute.

GO NAVY hahahahaha !!! Enjoy, Vince ( US NAVY RET.)

Ando, the Don Carlos #3 is the way I start most days, it is my Number one morning smoke ! GO NAVY ! hahaha, Enjoy, Vince

You think Cubans are expensive, try a Don Carlos, Padron Anniversario Maduro or any Davidoff. :cryinlaugh: :cryinlaugh: :cryinlaugh:

the Don Carlos #3 is between 7 & 8 bucks each, depending on where you get them, I have no idea what they cost any place but here in the Pittsburgh area. , the Padron Anniv . depending on size run from 7 bucks to over 15 each, & Davidoff, well a box of the doubble R's ( a 50 count ) is over a thousand bucks a box , I can get Cubans shipped in for less than that ! a whole lot less , like Cuban Monte #2 torp, about 350 a box of 25 . Enjoy, Vince

I'm happy for you Ando, that does sound like a good day. I'm also a little surprized that with access to Cubans that your choice of cigar is of NC origin.

I have found Cuban cigars in this country to be ridiculously expensive - I had a weekend off last week and didn't take any cigars home with me. So I popped into the cigar shop to grab a couple of cuban Montecristo #3's and was horriefied when the salesman wanted £30.00 for 3 cigars, thats like £10.00 each or in your world $19.00!!

Also the problem with Cubans is that we are deployed anywhere in the world with 12 hours notice, and with trade embargos and the like it gets a bit risky to take cubans with you.

I have plenty of cubans back in my humidor at home - but they tend to stay there till I come back for special occasions!

I understand and did not know you had access at other times.
Yes the UK has very high taxes.
For people that don't often get to smoke Cubans it is the chance they don't usually get.
So are you importing the NC's?
Or did you bring them with you?
As for travel - just take the bands off - no one can tell

Ando,

Since you don't have a problem getting Cubans sent to you in GB, perhaps you might want to check out Hong Kong. There is virtually no tax in the Pearl City on cigars, shipping is generally included, and there are House Habanos, S.A. supplied merchants there.

Some have "monthly clubs" similar to outfits like cigar.com where you can take delivery on 3-4 different Cuban sticks, with shipping included for a set price. This gives you a chance to test the waters, so to speak, before venturing any large capital.

Vince... 350.00 for a box of don carlos no. 3? Cigar.com has them for $200.00 You must be referring to a different cigar.

The Don Carlos are about 180 a box, the Cuban Montes are 350
Enjoy, Vince

thanks for the clarification Vince. That being your everyday smoke I figured you were not cranking out 350 a box.

Speaking of great smokes, this past Sunday I burned a (Cuban)Partagas Series P2 torpedo. Now this is a powerhouse of strength and flavors. Talk about firm construction and clouds of smoke around your head. . .amen.

It was slightly acidic in the first third, but it left after that. This stick has so much flavor that IMO most folks can probably taste it and many of the differences as it burns down. It will be interesting to see what kind of rating it gets from CA magazine. It is certainly one of the best smokes I've had this year.
