Alex's first wild hunt

As some of you may know, Alex came in from Chicago to get out of the concrete jungle to join my lab and I on a grouse and woodcock hunt. We hunted a few days, most of it was wet, but my lab worked the covers almost flawless. Big ended up flushing 19 grouse and 9 woodcock in the two days. Alex shot his FIRST wild bird over my dog. I was honored it was over my dog, and I TRIED not to gloat about it all weekend. Here are a few birds that had their flights permanently cancelled. Alex pulled a great shot on his bird, and so did I. But it sure didn't make up for all the birds we missed. Alex, I had a great time hunting with you, I look forward to bringing the lab down to Indiana this winter. You are more than welcome to hunt with Big and I anytime.....

Very cool. I am glad you guys had fun. Big looks just as please with himself.

Looks like a good time! I love how almost every picture of big has his tongue hanging out!

LOL that dog is great. CC hopefully we will get in to some deer this november. I LOVE ANIMALS... THEY TASTE GREAT.

man, i havent been grouse hunting in years. I need to get my guns from my dad.

Kuzi, come up sometime this month and I'll take you out. I can ALMOST promise you birds. As a matter of fact, I am leaving here in a few minutes to go back up!

I'd love to go - but having never hunted or shot a shotgun, I'd probably not make the ideal hunting partner...
