Well, we all know cigars absorb aromas. And my wife and I are coffee (grocery store variety) drinkers. And, I emptied the plastic 1 gallon Folgers plastic can....so of course the first thing that came to mind was...will cigars absorb coffee aroma?

I selected 3 Flor de Oliva Corojos, a couple of water pillows, and put them in the empty coffee can. The can still has ground coffee remains and makes an airtight seal. Then, I set it on my desk for 2 weeks.

I smoked the first one Wednesday. Now, I am not a super fan of the Oliva Corojo (I LOVE the Grand Cameroons and the regular Flor de Olivas) I find them kinda harsh in the taste of the smoke. So, after 2 weeks in the can, this stick seems to have really mellowed out. The harshness of the smoke wasn't there, was more enjoyable.

Did it taste like coffee? Nope. Smell like coffee or hints of coffee in the aroma? Nope.

I'm gonna wait a month for the next one, and then 6 for the last stick, and see what turns up.

you should burry it in coffe grounds. i bet that would work. i think it was thor that tried a similar experiment with booz and macanoodles.

But didn't he bury himself in booze and macanoodles? I think this is a little different.

I wonder if that dispels the theory that cigars of different bodies etc. "marry" when stored together?? Any thoughts??

Every now and then i grab a couple of cheap sticks and stick them in a large/ long jar. I put about 2 inches of marbles at the bottom with about a shot of cognac, scotch, or bourboun. Leave them in there for about 2 weeks and place them in a tupador for about 2 days. The taste is amazing and it is comprable to dipping the cigar in a nice glass of the spirits and taking a puff.
