This is kind of a silly question, but is there a "proper" way to hold a cigar while smoking? I usually just hold mine between my forefinger and middle finger like a cigarette.

Well, to make it easy on me and save Bloofington any trouble...

Here is a link. "Holding" is at the bottom of the page but read everything else on the way down, so you may learn something else too. Also check the links on the left. This link even shows a picture of how to hold it...

Outside of that "proper" method, I find it hard to hold like that... Personally, I hold it like I am pulling a trigger or the letter "X" in sign language, which I am proud to be fluent. If those make any sense...

There is no right or wrong. Do what you want, cigar smoking is a very personal experience. The old way, or even in Europe they consider it rude to hold a cigar like a cigarette and will say the proper way to hold a cigar is between your thumb, index and middle finger. I don't know why they feel that way, but it is an old way of Etiquette. I personally like the way that feels, as opposed to holding it like a cigarette. But that's just me.
