So today's my "Friday" and I'm celebrating with a Tatuaje and damned if I couldn't light it right.

I tried re-lighting 3 times, but everytime it burns lopsided. It doesn't help that I'm using matches (my Colbri light broke months ago).

So I'm courious, as a novice to vets, what do you do when you flub up a lighting? Dang it all and smoke it?

SMOKE IT SLOWLY!!!

Slow smoking will give it time to even out. You can also use a touch lighter applied to the slow burning side to catch it up a bit. What i find works is putting the slow burning side down when smoking, it helps it burn faster and catch up. You might also check your humidity, cigars will have less even burns if they are a bit too moist.

Hope it helps.

I prefer matches over lighters now. It was just too much a hassle to use/keep up my torch lighter. Plus, it looks pretty bada$$ to light your cigar with strike anywhere matches!

I'll touch mine up with a lighter when it does this. Or I'll set it down for a little while. If it goes out, I don't mind. In fact I'll do this on purpose once in a while if a cigar tastes off and then just relight it.

Were you outside?

Winds and ambient humidity play huge factors in cigar smoking.

Big....words......hurt.......brain..........ugggh........

What about smoking the very very cold? I remember not having the best burn, can the cold temp do something?

I smoke outside all winter long, and I have never had any of those problems. I do have to keep my torch in my pocket though, lighters don't like the cold one little bit.

Another thing I learned, is to be patient when you are lighting it, make sure that there is a good cherry of burn on the lit end, before you start puffing on the other.

There you go brother, I hope this all helps!

Thanks guys!

I found Motion's advice to be helpful. I was about halfway through my cigar when I checked back and saw his post. Helped a lot!

As for everyone else's advice, I'll be sure to use it the next time my cigar starts burning funky.

I really gotta get out to Grant's Cigar shop and buy me another ligher.
