An early morning cigar, lit at 0752 hours, shortly before having my second quart sized Freedom Press of fine, fresh ground coffee, Java Estate.
I pulled this out of the bottom of Desk Top IV, a well constructed, very dark beauty of a cigar that I figure I've had at least two years, well aged because it's a large maduro, which I usually get kicked pretty hard from. Deciding to have this on an empty stomach with my second quart of coffee, especially so early in the morning might have proved hazardous had it not been in my humidor for so long.
For those of you who are almost religious about keeping your humidors properly maintained, rotating your cigars, chanting over them, etc., rest assured, after at least two years sitting at the bottom of an ordinary desk top humidor, we did not have by any means a weak, flavorless smoke. Kept at humidity levels averaging about 65% I found this to be quite a satisfying stick as I planned my day.
Flavors of mostly delicious milk chocolate and a beautifully cooked filet mignon were evident throughout most of this cigar, the kind of steak that is lightly charred on the outside but tender, moist and delicious on the inside. No problem with the draw on this cigar either. Toward the last third it turned into a flinty, charcoal like flavor, kicking hard until it was down to the nub at 0942 hours. Breakfast is fixing that hard kick. 8)
Hard to go wrong with an A. Fuente cigar, fresh out of the box or well aged in your own humidors.
