we just got a new dog from the shelter. She is a great dog but the barking is really bad. are there any good bark collar's out there? I do not want a shock collar or anything like that.

Wow - that makes me want to run and get another dog, Chris! Thanks.

what options do you have? i mean, isnt the shock the point? im not sure you have much of a choice.

when i was living with my parents about 14 years ago we had a dog with the same problem. the shock collar worked ... kind of.

it takes a moment to reset so if the dog barks it instantly gets shocked but it wont shock on the second bark because the collar has not reset. it wont reset until the dog stops. if the dog barks constantly for one hour, only one shock will hapen... on the first bark. it never hurt the dog just scared him. wish i was more help than that.

I think the new ones use sound or something along those lines

Chris. Innotek is the product I use. Excellent. I have 5 no bark collars and they have saved my ten times the amount they cost in not having to pay fines. lol!

Give me a call if you want to talk models.

I don't know about the bark collar, but I have the "Petsafe" wirless fence. I have a 100# blacklab and he won't jump it. Very good product if you don't want to tie up your dog. It's just a little more than a static shock, equall to rubbing your feet on carpet and touching someone. Best 300.00 $$$ I have spent in a long time.
Good luck with the new member to your family.
Dog's are the BEST doorbell in the world.

well after a bit of searching and talking to the petstore. we went with the Pet safe model. we will see how it goes.

I had a couple pet safe models and my dogs barked right through them. If I still have them I could have sent you one.

She barked one time and got zapped, she has not barked since. She is not aggressive from it, and seems fine.

Like Eli, I have 4 dogs in the house. Once one starts, they all join in. The Innotek are great for a bark collar product, but their e-collars are not p to my standards. I have had too many Innotek training collar problems.

Another option, with several dogs, is get a house unit. Operates on a frequency level only audible to canines.

I would stay away from the citrus-spray type collars. I RELY on my dogs noses, I wouldn't want that stuff sprayed in their face all the time.
