Best Value Hydrometer

Hello all. I know some folks have suggested a Hydrometer from Radio shack but, I'm having trouble doing a search for it.

I like the idea of having a digital hydrometer that has probes you keep in the humi and are able to see the reading without opening the lid.

Does anyone have pics of said hydrometer? Or, a model number. I went to Radio Shack and the guy working there didn't know what the heck I was talking about. I tried to check the thermometer sections but, they were moving shelves around and they had piles of merchandise all over the floor. I looked online but couldn't find one similar to the one I described.

Of course, money is also an issue for me. I don't want to spend 50 bucks on a hydrometer. help?
 
I checked the manual Brenda (It was online) and it appears that it only measures humidity on the in-door sensor. So I am thinking that this may not be the one you want. I could be wrong on it - but the outdoor sensor seems to only measure temp.
 
Thanks, Kelvin. Mainly, I want a hydrometer that can sit outside of my humi and tell he what the humidity and temp is inside.


It would be nice to kill two birds with one stone and get a reading of both of my desktops but, not necessary.
 
I have one very similar to that, but the 2nd sensor is wired to the main one and I think that would make it more difficult to put into the humidor and leave the main unit outside - you'd screw up the seal or you'd have to do some minor meddling with the humidor to get the cord in and keep the lid snug.

Also, the one I have tells you temp for both sensors, but only humidity for the main unit (I think it's the main one) so that isn't much help for this...I just leave the second sensor's cord bundled up and have the whole thing inside - I check it about once a week or so

It comes with one remote sensor and said it could take readings from up to 2 additional remote sensors.

It sounds too cool. I may have to buy the combo (I'll have to save up.) The online store is "Out-of-stock" for these items.
 
I have the remote senor. It works ok, but getting the screws out to put in the batteries is a pin in the butt and it only takes readings every 40 seconds. Not too much of an issue but something to consider.

Brenda, that looks just like mine, but mine came from ebay and is branded as Oregon Scientific. I was able to win 3 complete base units and remotes for under $40 delivered. I have a base unit in my basement, main floor and upstairs on my large humi. I have a remote in both humi's and one outside. All 3 base units read all 3 remotes. Very cool. If you keep your eyes on ebay you should be able to pick up the base and remote for under $12 delivered. One of my base units even projects the time onto the wall with a red lazer.

Brenda, if the "on-line store" says it is out of stock, do a search for your local store. Most B&M's will have a few. Just bring the part #'s with you so the dumba....OOOps, the counter person can look it up and find it out in the back room. I'mk going too to get this set up too, I just have to wait awhile(the wife) :roll:
 
i picked up a couple of hygrometers up online at circuit city only 10 bucks each. salt tested them they were dead on. seems to be a great buy :D
