I posted this on another thread for Bildo and thought I'd start a new thread so I wasn't a Thread jacker

By big rocks i mean 8 to 10 rocks in each dump truck and they were over filled.

I had a portion of river bank wash out -
75 feet wide 350 feet long and about 12 feet deep.
The reason for the big rocks is I am on the inside bend in the river.
The preasure when the water flows high/fast is amazing so i am using the big rocks to push the water away from the house.
When I say big _ I mean BIG!
I get 2 rocks in the dump truck.
They put a few smaller rocks in the truck bed to protect it,
but really I am talking 2 car size rocks.
I am looking into flat bedding in some GIANTS!
having a crane put them where the water force is the hardest.

I added a picture below - the river used to be 75 feet away fromt the house. We are getting ready to dig a pond in our back feild to replace the ground we lost - the river bank will be lined with stone.
(I figured why not end up with a pond for all my work?)

I'll look for a picture of what it used to look like!

This is from the other side (looking east instead of west)
the picture above looks the other way (west instead of East)

very interesting, i look forward to seeing the pics once you resize them. I will check back.

yea that is pretty damn close to the house....
I bet that was an interesting night as you watched the bank wash away.

You will have to put some pics up when you are all done creating your pond and planting your gigantic rocks. You should be able to create a perfect fishing hole, just take that tree over so it provides shelter for the fish. Wow i could go to town in there.

Can you dig on your own property without a permit. In Maryland you have to have a permit from sediment control?
If you can dig without a permit- rent a 1 1/2 excavator and in one day you can divert the stream/river away from the house.A hugh money savings- that's how we do it on the East Coast. Should last 5 years depending on storm conditions.

I did all that once already.
This started with Hurricane Ivan and I did what you said and
put 20K in stone (long story) but nor BIG BIG BIG stone.
R7 - what the state gave me permits to use.
Well this last storm came and tore that shit apart
and left me worse than I was.
Without the big stone to hold it - it is just a waste of time.
This river can get high!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The water is low in th picture, but was 3 feet up the side of the house during storm week.
I am going to dig the pond and fill it in,
but also lining the bank with big stone at the same tme.
The river bank I am replacing is 350 feet long & 15 feet deep
Lots of rock!
