Birthday for a Dad! Need Help!

Hello again,

This thread doesn't cater to cigars exactly, but my dad's birthday is coming up, and considering the age/interest group, I was wondering if you guys could help me. I am at school living 1000 miles away, so I would have to order a gift online and send it to him. My budget is around $30.

My dad is an outdoorsman, likes to hunt (deer especially) and fish A LOT. He also does carpentry. When he relaxes, he'll usually watch sports, news, or an occasional movie with a beer in his hand. He's not a smoker. Age is over 50. He enjoys steakhouses, seafood, spicey food, etc. He also has his own boat (downriggers and all). Fishes on local lakes and Lake Michigan. He's also done bear and elk hunting in Montana and Canada.

I hope this is enough information. I was originally thinking of good beer samplers and such, but I'm not sure, or where. He's not easy to shop for. I was wanting to avoid a copout gift if possible. What do you guys think?

-Jared

the gifts I usually get my father (who has simaler intrests) for holidays are things like

shotgun shells
things to tie flys with
backpacking equipment
cigars
a specialized tool for his woodworking shop

woodcraft is a good store but i dont know how thier online store is.
thats about the best I can do for you.
Its hard to buy something for someone who has given you everything.

For that kind of person, you can beat a multi-tool, i.e. Leatherman, Gerber tool.

A gift certificate from his favorite outdoor shop. (Bass Pro Shops, Cabella's, etc.)

The Friday CAO deal from cigar.com

Send the gift cert. to your dad, he'll love it.

Since he's not a smoker, you can send the cigars to me, I'll love it.

Are you in School in Boston? Where's your dad live?
I'm in Chicago & my parents are in a small town in Southern MN. They always seem to enjoy food & beverages that I can get in Chicago but they can't buy locally.
In the past I've gotten them tea, locally roasted coffee, uncommon imported beers, and assorted mostly imported canned or dry foods.

1 Season of the Sorpranos on DVD. Then the next for his birthday and so on and so on...............

i WOULD GET HIM A HOT SAUCE SAMPLER. i'VE SEEN A BUNCH OF DIFFERENT 4 5 AND 6 BOTTLE SAMPLERS OF DIFFERENT HOT SAUCES. mAKES A GOOD GIFT THAT WILL KEEP ON GIVING.

I am with foodislife, get him the Soprano's, he would probably love it, and it would be easy to order for him.

If he likes movies and doesn't have it already, the Godfather is a great one to give.

I also like the leatherman tool idea. Those things are great.

I love my Leatherman Pulse, although I'm sure it's a bit more than $30.

After my brother talked me into watching the 1st season of the Sopranos, I have now watched all 5 seasons that are out on DVD. Can't wait for season 6 to come out on DVD.
