I have had some good Cuban cigars. I've had a few great ones. I've smoked a Cuban rated 100 from Cigar Aficionado. This doesnt change my position overall.

Question - seriously - what cigar are we talking about?
I don't do the Ca thing anymore and was wondering what they gave a 100 to?

It happened back in the bad old days, CC. I forget which cigar they gave that rating to specifically, but it was about 317 years old, and a famous brand name, perhaps Montecristo or RyJ.

Yeah, I'd pass, deep downfield. There comes a point where unless you're Bill Gates, smoking and drinking something that costs 40 times more than a lot of other good products is just plain ridiculous and ostentatious.

well said bloof.... cause if your bill gates $200 a stick is like paying $6 therefore not making you ostentatious.

if your bill gates $200 a stick is like paying $6

Being the nerd I sometimes am, I had to figure this one out for myself. According to 2000 statistics of Bill Gates' worth ($60 billion) and the net worth of the average American household ($55,000), if Bill Gates were to spend $200 on a single stick, it would be equivalent to the average American spending around $.000183 CENTS. Someday guys, someday . . .

My wife had bought me the Cigar Aficionado Cigar Companion a while ago, and it it there are 3 Cuban Cigars that have a rating of 100. The first one is called a 1492 which came out in 1995. The second is a Davidoff Chateau D'Yquem which came out in 1979, and the third is a Dunhill Cabinetta which came out in 1986. Followed with a rating of 99 is the Montecristo No. 2 circa 1985.

I don't think I will ever get a chance to sample these but I bet they are damn well good!

A few years back I bought 2 of the 1492 - I wanted a gift for a friend that has almost "EVERYTHING" Cuban that there is. That said he has shared more smokes with me than anyone. So I wanted something nice for him. I do not recall what I paid - but could not bring myself to smoking the second one.
A year later I traded the second one to the same guy for an entire box of cigars - It was right after the flood and money was tight and well i needed some smokes.
I have the Dunhill in my collection, but am yet to try that one.

I have a few Davidoff but from what hear they have past their prime
still good smokes but are over the hill and should be smoked soon.
Still it's hard to smoke a $300 cigar

For three C's a stick, you'd better get . . .

wellllll, you'd better get more than a nicotine kick, that's all I can say.

All covered here...yes, it was the 86 Dunhill Cabinetta.

BTW it's easy to smoke a cigar like this when a friend says "smoke this, tell me what you think".
