I am curious what you guys have to say about the Macanudo line of cigars? I have read conflicting reviews so I was curious as to what you guys have to say?

Thanks,

You'll not hear much praise for Macanudo around these parts.

They're ok. A bit too mild for my taste. Would be a good cigar for starters. I've only tried a Gold Label, so maybe the regular Mac's would be a little more milder?

Everyone will have their comment and opinion on macs and other brands. They only way you'll know is to try it yourself.

SO TRUE! I have read many derogatory comment about Avo cigars as well, but I have some Avo Maduros and like them quite a bit. Are they my favorite? No, but still a good smoke.

I love them. 8)

I was kidding!! They suck!!

Although, I do have some of the Vintage 1988 and 1993. The current Macs (1997-present) are what I call "sell out" cigars, made popular by the cigar boom-yuppies who couldn't stand a real cigar. They would stand around waiving cigar in hand, trying to look cool and important, even though they probably never smoked a cigar their entire life. They were more or less "props" for the cigar boom weenies.

BTW, I am looking for a few of the Vintage 1979 Macs. The cheapest I have found so far is around 60.00 each. Anyone have some they would like to part with??

i enjoy them, Mild smoke and great for a beginner- like myself, but are a bit pricey for me.

You should try the Cigar.com Purple Label then. A little more flavor than the Mac, and alot cheaper too!

Cigar.com doesn't have them. I got a source, but I just want to do a little price comparison. Sorry to threadjack!!

i would love to try the cigar.com labels but unfortunatly im not 21 yet soooo......yea, but in 2 years.....wohoooooo!

I would stay away from the macanudos. I find them to be overpriced and lacking in complexity. Consider any of the following. They are not as well known but that is what makes them such great boutiques

CuAvana
Sol Cubano Connecticut
Cusano 18

These are great selections.

will your local shop sell to you? Have you tried La Aurora? they are pretty good for a very mild cigar under $4 for a robusto.

yea i can buy from shops, and no i havent tried them although i did write it down for my next trip to the shop

Spooner, call the phone number for Cigar.com. The reason the restriction is 21 is that not all states are the same. As long as you are from a state where you are of legal age, they should sell to you.

What number should i call, and how would i go about asking them/ telling them the situation..thanks!
