I was on the Cigar Aficionado website looking at ratings and they will only give me a couple on each brand. But if I subscribe to CA's "Cigar Insider" I will get access to all of the ratings. Are any of you a current or a past subsiber? If so, is it worth the $49.95 price tag?

Thanks.

Is that for a year? I hear there's a lot of meat and potatoes in CI, but wait to hear from others who really know the realm.

I had a free 3 month trial. it was ok but 50 bucks is a lot of money for something you can get for free. Try http://www.top25cigar.com/reviewdatabase/
I have found just about everything I wanted to know here and its free. I ask the forum the rest of my questions. I visit CA forums and the belief there is that the CA rating system is directly propotional to the amount of advratizing dollars a cigar company spends. I'm not trying to bash CA, but that is the conventional wisdom. Hope this helps.

I have a subsctipion. It comes out every two weeks and focuses more on industry news. Many of the articles published are also available on the CA website but also be sure to keep http://www.cigarcyclpedia.com on your list of favorites. In the news and views section, they run every story you will find in cigar insider and more. I typically find that this site is the first to pick up most major cigar news.

As for ratings, I would not invest too much in the opinions of anyone other than yourself. If I have realized anything in this fine world of cigars, it is that everyone likes different things.

Absolutely. Why, just imagine, there are actual members of THIS web site, :eek:mg: :eek:mg: :eek:mg: who actually LIKE to smoke Strawberry Phillies Blunts, and drink Instant Taster's Choice with two packets of Sweet 'n' Low.

There is so much fee information on the net I can't see spending that much on their "insider".

A lot of their ratings I find seem to be biased also...

"ratings" are all BS in my opinion...one man's 93 rated cigar is another man's dog rocket.

Thanks guys for the info.

I'll try the top 25 cigar and cigar cyclopedia websites. The $49.95 for a year does seem a little too pricey for what it is. I like CastleCrest suggestion better, spend the money on cigars rather than paying for a subscription.

Notwithstanding all my attempts to keep Vaudeville alive, it really is all about what YOU like. That goes for my keenest "good life" interests, which are bourbon, coffee and cigars, but it really extends to everything. The beauty is in the differences of the cultures worldwide. It's what makes groups of people AND individuals interesting.

In my case, it's what helps keep me boring. I've been a boring old man since I was 12, but now that I really am old, I don't have to make excuses for it, or try to change anything.

"I'm not trying to tell you what to do with your life, but did you ever think of changing THIS?"

I'll bet no one here EVER heard THAT before. :cryinlaugh: :cryinlaugh: :pumpkin:
