For a 300 CT Humi would be the XL or the XL Plus be a better idea?

The official site says that the XL has a replacable cartridge while the XL Plus has a replacable/refillable cartridge.

I am wondering if replacable means that the XL needs another cartridge on standby at all times, I would much rather be able to refill than have to spend another few bucks here and there on cartridges.

Also, would it any less of a hassle to just go with a passive humidity system and spend the XL cash on some sticks?

I have the XL Plus. and all I do is refill the water container every few weeks. For a three hundred you could use a passive system. Beads or cat litter, I really don't like the credo (florists foam) I did just take all the foam out of my XL and replace it witrh polymers, I will see how that goes.

I have the older XL and refill it. It just has different holes to my knowledge. But I guess they could have changed it. The XL should be adequate for a 300ct but you may eventually upgrade so keep that in mind. The Plus isn't much more.

Either way, when you order/buy it, ask if its the new release. The first new ones had defective hygrometers that were off by as much as 15%. You can just set it accordingly but a new one would be better.
