Cuba
Now that I have started to purchase some high end cigars because of this place I work in Cuba (Detainee Ops), what would be the ideal beverage to enjoy without killing the flavor of the Cigar?
Thanks
Jason

It seems that a very popular choise for you, considering where you are would be the Havana Club Rums. Straight up or maybe on the rocks.

DiablowithTB, does that mean the devil with tuberculosis?

Man, wht I would do to get my hands on some Kooban rum........

First of all welcome to the forum brother, I cannot even imagine what it would be like to have your job, I will take snow and cold anyday.

That said, a lot of people like coffee with their gars, and if I remember correctly there was quite a thread on that subject not that long ago. If you do a search for drinks, I think you would find it.

However, cheap Cuban Rum sounds mighty fine to me!!

I mostly drink water when I smoke, sometimes I'll have a nice dark rum. Right now I'm working through a bottle of Pyrat XO...very good stuff.

Welcome to the forum! There are many different opinions on this subject and you will have to find your own answer. I for one think food should be considered as well. There are different levels of richness in food just like cigars. If I am eating heavy french food I like to finish with a heavy rich cigar. If I just had a big cheese burger I want to have a creamy medium bodied smoke. Foie Gras and Maduro, Burger and rare corojo. Now if you like Ales or colored liquor ( bourbon, cognac, brandy) I think you stick with a mild to medium bodied smoke. Clear liquor needs full bodied and rich. Coffee in the morning requires a sweet Maduro. These are personal prefrences. Like I said, you will have to decide what is best for Diablowith TB. I don't drink but I did. I stopped because I was getting to heavy. I lost 16 pounds when I stopped drinking. Food on the other hand remains my focus. Take your time and try many combos. When you find your happy spot you'll be the first to know. Have fun with this! That's the point right?

I am a man of few words hahahahahah
But I digress,to answer your question~ Coffee, storng & black, or a good scotch, , NOT A Blended Scotch, a single malt, but that opens up an other can of worms, do you like the scotch smokey & filled with the aroma of the sea, like Laphorig , or a light highland malt like Oban ? I guess a good place to start would be TRY them ALL ! I have been TRYING to do that all my life ! But they keep making more, I am doing my best to catch up but I feel as I am loosing the race ! hahaha Enjoy ! Welome to the ZOO,

Vince

Welcome,

I like coffee, iced tea, Soda is ok,(Dr Pepper and 7 UP), dark beers will bring the bitterness out of a cigar. A light colored beer is good, Amber ale, A pilzner. Sam Adams Lite is great, spring and summer ales are nice too. A nice glass of wine is ok too, just watch the red wines, I find that the tannins in the wine taint the taste of the cigar some times. Hope this helps

Given your job..I'd say a water on the rocks is the best cocktail. Coffee is also decent. I'd hate to see detainees on the run because of one coctail too many.

Awesome response

I appreciate the help on this question. The response is awesome.
Now I know what to look for.
Diablo(cigar)with TB(tommy Bahama shirt) a total way to relax.
