I noticed the fascinating thread where you guys were showing off your coolerdors and came up with a question.

Other than the fact that they are prettier, and more elegant, is there any other reason (functionally) to choose a humidor over a coolerdor?

they got shelves most of the time, that makes it a little easyer. and sometimes they have glass doors. thats kindof cool, but thats it.

i think shelves take up to much room, storing them in boxes is much better.

Other than appearance, no reason not to go with a coolerdor. Vince, who once had 11,000 cigars, has a bunch of homemade coolerdors. He's been smoking 275 cigars a week since 586 B.C. If the coolerdor thingy works for him, I'd say it'll work for anyone. :cryinlaugh:

I went for my large cabinet because I needed temperature control. Once you get a large collection you never want to see bugs. Coolers are fine so long as you keep the room they are in at 70 F or below.

My cabinet keeps my cigars at 65-67 degrees. Before I got it, I had 3 150 qt, 3 54 qt coolers and 8 desk top humidors. It was a major pain in the ass keeping them all at the proper levels.

Nobody has mentioned cedar yet. Of course you can put the spanish cedar in a coolidor, frigidor, etc., it comes built into the humidor.
