WooHoo! I'm going on a cruise. For my birthday my mom planned a 30th to remember. The whole family will be going on the Norweigan ship Spirit out of NY to Port Canaveral FL and to the Bahamas. Six days and nights of fun in hopefully all sun. My wife is excited as well as me. I am waiting for my mom to tell my daughter so that she can tell her the good news. Only one problem: I can't buy any cigars until the cruise to save up some spending money. But the cruise does stop next to the Atlantis, which has a Habanos recognized retailer.

Dude!!! Enjoy the cruise - you gotta take pictures at the Graycliff Factory.

The good news for me....

I have my cruise booked for next year 9 nights to the Eastern Carribbean

The bad news........

We are booked on the Crown Princess. Can you say....LIST!!!

I don't know if I will have time for the Graycliff hotel. I will have the family with me, so talking them (wife, kids, mom and dad) into a visit to a hotel that makes cigars will be tough. Plus, I'm not that big a fan of their cigars. If we made a stop to the DR, that would be a different story.

You'll have a blast, trust me. I was reluctant to go on a cruise because I thought it would be boring. After my wife convinced me to take a short 3-day cruise to the Bahamas I was hooked.

The only thing to watch for is the bar bill. When I got mine at the end of the cruise they almost had to break out the difibulator!

:cheerschug:

That does worry me. I like to drink and so does my wife. I know the drink prices on cruises can be high.

Too funny! I went on a 7 day eastern Carribbean on Carnival in 99 with a buddy of mine who had just turned 21 at the time.

After shmoozing a few ladies for the trip and spending every night in the casino, they couldn't fit our bar tab under the door...they left it like the new yellowpages on our Beds....2200.00 later i was really damn happy I had 2 2200+ nights on the craps tables because if not, that would have left an even bigger mark!!!!

good luck, they make it real nice and easy by swiping your room card as payment...easy to loose track of your consumtion rates!

Have a ball I cruise ever year and haven't tired of it yet.

phish I understand the concern for the bar bill because when we went on ours last year we had the same concern. This is what we did....We bought some large white plastic mouth wash bottles (some kind of tooth whitening stuff) and poured out the wash and cleaned them and then filled them with our adult beverage of choice. Used large water bottels to mix our drinks in the room. It worked great. Make sure you get the white plastic non see through bottle. Guess you could clean out a shampoo bottle or whatever also. If you get busted and kicked off the boat don't blame me.....but it worked for us. It prob saved us a couple hundred bucks because the prices on the cruises are as you would expect very high. Good luck.

Hell, I just smuggled a bottle of Maker's Mark in my (big)checked bag. Drank it for 10 days straight!!! :)
:neer:

Bass, what line was that? I can't see getting kicked off a boat fro bringing on alcohol. Last time I was on a cruise, they didn't rummage through my bags going on the boat from shore; but that was pre 9/11.

Good for you. Watch out for abrupt turns at sea. My family went on a cruise once (1967). We went around the world. First leg abord the SS Oransey P&O Orient Lines.

Started off from Long Beach, to Hawaii, (ship caught fire between Hawaii and Hong Kong, passengers in life jackets on the boat deck for most of the day, crew manning the life boats) to Hong Kong, to Japan (three cities), to Thailand, (got a US Destroyer escort for most of the day off Vietnam), (also in typhoon off Thailand somewhere), to Ceylon, to Bombay India, to South Africa (Cape Town, Durbin, Dakar) around the tip of Africa. to Le Harve France, to England, stayed in England for four weeks.

Second leg of trip, abord the SS Canberrra P&O ORient Lines. Left England to Florida,( clothes drier caught fire burned all of our clothes, steam ship company gave us $2000 for new duds), to Nassau, through Panama Cannal, to Alcopulco, back to Long Beach.

phish I was on a carnival cruise. I don't know what they do with the luggage because you drop it off and they bring it to your room. I don't think the search if there is any would be that detailed. Good luck.
