who here smokes a whole cigar at one time? if you do, do they all get stronger closer to the band ?and if you dont get the chance to smoke the whole thing at once do you let it go out by its self or do you cut it?and how far down do you smoke it ? ty

Yes I smoke it all at once. That being said, ALL is subjective. depending on the cigar, all could be 1/2 way 1/3 , 2/3 or I can smoke it till it burns my fingers. Every cigar seems to be different to me. I like the La Gloria Cubana Corona Gordas 6" x 52. Some days It gets bitter 1/2 way, some days after I burn my fingers I'll light another one up and keep smoking. When I started I was told, smoke it untill your not enjoying it any more. Then toss it. I have cut a few cigars, then relit them at a later date. I didn't like them, BUT, I've only been smoking cigars for 6-7 months now. Do a search, someone just did a post about re-lighting cigars. Hope this helps.

Michuck check out the first experiment thread, we talk about the correct procedure for doing this in quite some detail. I hardly ever manage to smoke a whole cigar - as a matter of fact I have one sitting in my skmoking lounge waiting for me - and so just leave them out there quite often.

There you go brother!

The cigar can get stronger, have more of a bite, get's a little bitter, if it gets too hot. The tar building up might also be a reason for the stronger flavor.

I usually smoke 2/3 of the cigar. If it's a really good one I'll try to smoke as much as possible (passed the band.) I'll only re-light it if it goes out for just a minute or so. I usually put the cigar out in the ashtray since, I smoke outside and want to make sure it's out (fire hazard.)

I almost always smoke the whole thing at once. The only time don't is if I get interrupted by something unexpected or badly misjudge the time it'll take to smoke the cigar. Depending on what it is, I may well just pitch a half smoked cigar.
I'll often remove the band and smoke a cigar down to the nub (about an inch left), though they start going downhill when they get really short, mostly due to getting way too hot on the fingers. I often find my favorite part of a cigar is the part just past the band.
If you do put a cigar out, it's a good idea to clear the smoke out of it by blowing out through the cigar. As for cutting vs. letting it go out, I have no idea.

i never smoke a cigar once its been out for more than 10 min. i think the acrid taste goes away once it heats up some but i cant get passed it. and once its out and relit it will never be the same.

yea they do have a tend to get stronger as you smoke it, plus the smoke get hotter.

My opinion of a great cigar is one that gets better at the half way point. I tend to smoke mine about 3 times. I don't seem to mind the re-light taste. BUT when I have the time I try to smoke it slow and all the way. I think it is a sign of a great cigar if you can re-light it a few times and still enjoy your smoke. :flameon:
