So they are off. it is good information to have. there are very few that are dead on. just write a plus 7 on there and acount for it when you check.

Aren't they adjustable?

No, they aren't, but Dave from Heartfelt is going to send me out a couple that are.

When you pay as much as some people charge for those, it can be dissapointing when they dont work. I am a big fan of just doing away with my hygros and going on feel.

interesting....im trying to imagine what that would be like...what do you use to hydrate, Alex....beads? Foam? CO? and how concerned are you about temp.?

I will agree with Alex. I haven't had hygrometers in my 4 desktops for years. And the batteries in my walk-in hygrometers died a year ago, and I have not replaced them. I think people worry too much about the RH, instead of sitting back and actually enjoying the cigars. And, the more you are concerned with it, the more you open the humidor, the more you...... You get the point.
With me, I believe Alex also uses the cigar oasis. I have the big one in my walk-in, and the smaller units in a few of the desktops.

Hatchet, for what its worth, I am like a crack addict when it comes
to my hygometer readings. I have had so much trouble regulating
my hygometers. I bought an adjustable from Mark at Cigarmony,
did a salt test, adjusted it and put in my humidor next to a
Madelaine digital. For some reason, the two were off so i bought a
SECOND adjustable digital just to test the first ( i didn't have faith
in the salt test). My Rh was probably fine all along.

Now I have two adj. digitals in my 500ct humidor w/ 65% beads
and they both have read the same for several weeks.

What I'm getting at goes along with what Capt. said. I wasn't
enjoying my hobby because I was worried about my humidity all
the time. I'd check it before bed, when I woke up, and at lunch. My cigars are smoking fine (always have) so I've just quit worrying about it and just started enjoying my smokes.

I do understand how fustrating it can be!

Dustin

On more thing, Rh beads take all the guess work out of it. With Rh beads, you really don't have to use hygrometers. Just gotta have a little faith! :D

In my opinion, there are TOO many devices in that calibration pack. I would take out all of the devices and test them one at a time. You need to have some air in there to get a correct reading.

My 2 cents.

1. The calibration bag was 75.5%rh....so I have to assume the prometheus was correct.

2. You very well may be correct, Kelvin, I'll give that a try.

On the flipside, Dave at Heartfelt was very understanding and helpful, and has already shipped replacements.
And Dustin, your right on the money, I should just relax. I do use the 65% beads, and they seem to be working great...I just got home and my fridgedor was at 71%...not sure what thats all about, its been staying at around 65% on the money. I removed all beads, and will let it rest and see whats up.......

Are the calibration packs dead on 75.5%, I recently purchased on and both of my digital hygrometers read about 77 to 79% which is fine...Im just curious.. The salt test has never worked for me either, I have just had bad luck with hygrometers.[/i]

I use the Boveda calibration packet and they are guaranteed to within .05% accuracy. I don't know if Hatchetman was using a Boveda.
