i recently got a pack of cohiba red dot cigars from another site and i started smoking one yesterday only to find it was really dry, one end cracked when i squeezed it a little. i left them in the plastic and put them in my humi a couple weeks ago. on further inspection only the end that was away from the plastic opening was dry, the other end seemed ok. i started to smoke it and it was good, but a bit too dry. then i must of got down to a dry spot cause it just got hot and tasted bad. are they ruined or could i leave them in a humi for a month and resurect them?

i think they will be fine if you get them naked and let them sit for a while. They will prob taste like they have been aged for a long time.

Let'em sit and forget about them for a while. I'm sure they'll be fine after some time passes...

i got the same deal
i was pleased with the condition of the red dots though
seemed just fine

Congress votes 535-0 on this one. There is ALMOST no such thing as a fine, premium hand rolled cigar that has been ruined from being too dry. A dry cigar has certainly aged before its time, but it can be resurrected. It can take as long as three to six months at proper humidity levels, but take it from me, cigars are like food. It's almost sinful to waste them because there's ALMOST always a good use for it.

You must take them out of the wrappers then they will recover slowely :D

I have to comment;

Not sure why aging is being brought into this.

I do beleieve that the cigar with time will be smoakable again, but
when a cigar dries out some oils are lost and that cigar will never taste as good as it could of.

{Will most smokers ever notice?} I doubt it!

Will it taste like it was aged - I do not believe this to be true?

well, in the aging process some chemicals are released in gas form such as amonia. if the cigar is dried out those chemicals would be able to evaporate much faster.. thus artificial ageing.
