Hey guys, what's a good cutter for large ring gauge cigars? I am having trouble finding a cutter over 55.

You could always get a punch. I don't know where you would find larger guillotine cutters. I've never had a problem since I try to take off as little of the cap as will allow me a good draw. I hate when cigars unravel on me.

All the best,

Joe

Thanks man. I was wondering if I needed to get myself a punch. I've been meaning to try one for awhile now anyway.

You could use a 9mm, 40, or 45 cal brass for a punch. Use a chamfer tool on the case to create a sharper edge. Just clean it good, gunpowder residue doesn't go well with a good stogie.

There are some larger puches on the market. I have a xikar and a vector. Both have done well for up to 54 ring cigars.

I bought a larger guage punch. Great $8 investment :D Much easier and cleaner than any of my cutters. Shop around and you'll find a larger one.

If someone would just make a double ceramic blade I'd be all over it!

I just use a straight razor blade for the huge cigars (like the 70 ring gauge Perdomo Immenso). Does a perfect job but watch the fingers!

I just use the Swiss Army Knife on my key chain to carefully cut a circle out of the cap. Works great, I've probably cut a couple hundred cigars that way, and have maybe damaged 2 a little. Works better than my Xikar except on torpedoes.

agreed

i use a punch on everything but torps and perfectos

I always go back and forth between a punch, a cutter and a multi-tool.

I would suggest that if you get the punch - look at the Xikar - it is really sharp and does the trick.
