I travel frequently to different places for my work, and always have a hard time finding a local bar or lounge that is cigar friendly. Without giving away too much personal info, I thought this would be a good place to list off places where fellow cigar enthusiast hang out to smoke and relax with a drink or two. So here goes...

In my home area, Metro Detroit, I have been to and like Bailey's Pub in Canton and 336 Main in downtown Plymouth. Both are on the west side.

Are there any other bars local or abroad that are "Cigar Friendly" I am currently in LA and having a hard time finding a decent smoking lounge.

good smokes,

I usually just smoke around the house, and sometimes while I drive. At home I like to sit out on the carport if it's not too windy. If it's too windy I seek refuge in my dad's woodshop.

I don't know about anyone else, but the area I'm in, the Front Range, the place people can even have a cigarette are dwindling rapidly. I can't even sit and have a martini and cigar in Ft. Collins because it's a smoke free town and to smoke out doors you have to be at the most 10 feet from your ouwn vehicle. It's pretty outrageous. Places that do allow smoking don't always allow cigars either, unless you know someone working there, and then all the cigarette smoke ruins the cigar.

Sorry for the rant! I've never quite had the chance to hit up a proper cigar lounge. I'm heading to Indy for a few days, does anyone know of anything out there?

If anyone is in the St. Paul area of Minnesota (it could happen), I recommend the Muddy Pig on Selby and Dale. Best beer selection in town, decent wine and good hard booze (so I'm told) as well as a good pub atmosphere. I've smoked a few cigars in there and even asked if it was 'okay' (it was, and yes, I am a big dork).

Most of the province of Ontario has banned smoking in restaurants and other private establishments. The only places that smoking can take place are Legions for veterans and private clubs which operate with a license issued by the province of Ontario. I can't even light up a cigarette let alone a cigar. Sucks.

So I usually end up sitting on the patio and smoking cigars.

On hilton head island there is a bar called The Lodge. I haven't checked out their humidor yet. Everywhere here allows smoking because its a tourist destination and they don't want to do anything to scare people off. My local shop also just started a "club". I am thinking about joining but it is $375 a year. You get a humidified spanish cedar locker, and 15% off everything you purchase.

When is St. Paul/ Minneapolis I ate at a great steakhouse and had a cigar at the bar. THey actually sold a pretty nice selection there. Cant remember the name though.

Cobsgirt... Ft. Collins????????? My favorite beer is made there. Fat Tire. I absolutely love the new belguim brewing company. As for the smoking laws around there I feel you. That will be the first town in the US to ban smoking anywhere.

Sorry, I like this thread. Here are the chicago hot spots:

Penninsula Club (in the penninsula hotel) hands downt the nicest cigar bar in the city.

Sullivans Steak house: the whole second floor is devoted to cigars it is great.

Fly me To The Moon: near wrigley field, pull up to the cigar bar after 10 for live jazz and piano music. Never crowded but bring your own smokes as they charge an arm and a leg. Great italian food also.

Steffanis steak house, recently reviewed in Aficionado. Great bar with lots of cigar friendly seating. Cheap cigars if you forgot yours at home too.

Pete Millers, it is in evenston north of the city. Great steaks and great beverage selection. Pool tables and good looking women.
I personally just love smoking anywhere that allows me to and searves a mean black coffe :D

I'm in complete agreeance on the Ft Collins beer scene. Fat Tire is definately one of the best. Although while I was in West Virginia, I had a beer called Ying Ling.....whoa. Good good very good beer!

One of my favorite beers is Yuengling. It is the oldest brewery in the US. It is from Pennsylvania, so there are a few people here that might be familiar with it. Last time i went to visit friends i took them 4 cases in a cooler since they can't buy it where they live.

Yuengling is pretty common around here...I'm not a big drinker, but I like to have one every now and then. My uncle turned me on to Yuengling a while back.

You guys are lucky. Fat Tire is my husband's all-time favorite and can't get it out here in MN. We get 'shipments' from travelling friends every once in a while and he saaavors it. Someone out there could make a mint if they could get that stuff here.

Macallan--could it have been Manny's?

well i cant speak for other places, but the seattle area has some of the best brews around. theres one brewer called mac and jacks makes THE BEST ale i have ever had. only problem is you cant get it in bottles or cans, kegs only. every restaurant up here has them on tap, at least any restaurant that knows whats best for them.

I hear Yuengling is made very close to school here. Although, I am underage so I wouldnt know anything about beer. :cheerschug: :sm_angel:

That kinda makes me laugh that you can't get Fat Tire out there. You can pick it up at just about every liquor store on the front range!

Yep, sucks to be him. :p

I like wine, which appears to be available EVERYWHERE. Kind of weird we can get French wine, but not Colorado beer.

LA spots

So I just got back form dinner in LA. Gladstone's in Malibu seems to be a good place. There is a deck/boardwalk that has open seating and there is enough of a breeze coming in off the Pacific that the non-smolers don't get a lot of haze from the cigars. Good beer selection and outstanding, but pricey fresh seafood.

BTW, the entire state of CA is a non-smoking state inside businesses, but outside on the deck is apparently OK.

Woodgirl, that sounds like the place. I am originally from St. Louis where Schlaffly beer is brewed which is another personal favorite but I hear it is available in your neck of the woods as well as it is bottled in Minnisota.
