Bloof, I am not Italian. I am Greek, so it would be Alex, Nicholas, Nektario, Yanni, and Marino. Ryan

I lived in the worlds largest Greek community outside of Athens for 19 years (1981-2000), and still hang out there. I've been hanging there since about 1973-4. Astoria, Queens. And in that case, . . .

PASS THE BAKLAVA!!!!!

I recently went to the Athens cafe, a restaurant, coffee shop and bakery that I watched grow from literally a hole in the wall when I started dating my second wife back in '79. She lived down the block from it. I always loved their pastry display, and tasted many treats through the years. Since I still have friends in Astoria, including the ex-, still right down the block (sort of) but in a different building on a different street, I'm in the neighborhood often. I hadn't had their baklava in years, stopped in and bought six. When I got home, they didn't last long. And I mean the large triangles, not the medium ones, or little baby ones. They still make it the same way.

Bloof, this winter, when it gets cold, I'll send you some from a family recipe. I don't want to send it in this heat, because when you get it, it will be a big pile of gooey nuts... hehehehe. That didn't sound right. Either way, this fall you'll be receiving a nice package of sweet nutty goodness!!! hehehe. That didn't sound right either. Ryan

HOMEMADE BAKLAVA, STRAIGHT FROM THE FIREHOUSE!!!

:eek:mg: :eek:mg: :eek:mg:

You are too kind, and I am most unworthy. If that happens, and I am alive and well, you will receive some nice cigars.

It really is a small world! For the first 14 years of my life, I lived in Astoria too...on 29th Ave right near the C-Town (not sure if it's still there, but there use to be a giant cow on top)...Grand Avenue Pizza...shopping on Ditmars Blvd (La Guli Bakery)...Astoria Bakery...the Bel-Aire Diner...hanging out at Astoria Park with a great view of the Triborough and Hell's Gate bridges...and I can't forget to mention the best part of summer...Mr. Softee. Man, that takes me back :D

If that's the C-Town on Broadway and 29th, I do think it's still there. Grand Pizza!!! I practically LIVED at and ON Grand Pizza at times!!! Astoria Bakery, Go!!!

Oops, sorry, I'm thinking of 29th STREET and Broadway. I think I know the C-Town you're talking about though, although my memory of exactly where it is might be fuzzy.

Calibus, while I have you on the line, and being that The Raiders are my second favorite team, what's it look like for them this year?

EXCUSE ME HI-JACKERS!!!!!! I am just kidding. Bloof, Since the Detoir Lions suck, I have always liked the Raiders too!!!

Yes, but we have them to thank for Barry Sanders. And before that, there was the brief period of that defense known as The Silver Rush.
