Probably a stupid question, but does anyone know if you can carry your cigar cutter on a plane? I will not put a good quality cutter in my check bagage, maybe just a cheap one.

I don't know...I know that you can carry a lighter in a DOT approved carrying case...I don't know about the cutter...I would imagine not though...

Thanks for the info. I was planning on carrying my cutter, but just bring stick matches.

Do you have any info on the DOT case??

i dont remember exactly how but I took one on a flight to Tampa , probably had it suitcase or in a carry on but I know I took one with me. I would say I did not carry it on my person because I didnt even carry a small penknife so it was probably in one of my bags.

Muerte - here's the only thing I've seen for zippos:

Otter Zippo Case

Not sure if they'd catch a zippo, fueled or not, without a case.

Thanks. I was more interested in info about the regulations concerning the box. I have been on flights that allow unfueled lighters in checked baggage, and others that completely prohibited lighters. I would imagine each airline has it's own policies.

have you visited TSA.GOV for info

TSA says cutters are ok. lighters in checked baggage must not have fuel, unless they are zippos, and those must be in the DOT approved case.

Good info. I can live without my lighter for a few days, but need to take my cutter.
