As I was sampling my wine selection for the night, I found myself smirking at the label…. the wine is actually quite good, a nice little Fronsac from '00 called Les Trois Croix. Château Les Trois Croix (the three crosses) was taken over by Patrick Léon and family in 1995. Their objective was to produce a quality French wine and they had simply fallen in love with the idea of living in Fronsac! (Figured I had better drink this bottle, purchased prior to my Froggie wine boycott – prior to the whole Sodamn Insane fiasco – before it corked or like our finicky Froggy friends, went ‘sour on me’). :?
Maybe this would be better suited to the political thread, but not long ago I came across this story about the little town of Redding, CA, also known locally as a town of many churches. Apparently, Redding was about to be sued by ACLU for having a cross as one of town's symbols. Well, not anymore, the town decided to back off and removed it.
And the moral of your story Mr. Cigar..... You may ask…..?
I wonder, how long before Les Trois Croix become Les Trois Minorets or Les Trois Mujahedeens? Because that's the direction it seems, once the church is out of the picture, (and btw, I’m not a religious person at all, well...I was kinda one time, when things went that way with this lovely Lady until things went terribly wrong and all I could do was scream for god's help with this fine creature, yet as you can see, he never came through, so go figure. Now I’m not openly Demonic or anything, maybe a goat sacrifice or two here and there…. a few late night dancing in the nude Wicken/pagen festivals – just for fun - don’t ya know.) But again, I digress…..
Anyway, once the church is out of the way, the vvaaccuumm will be filled and it won't be with Hershey's kisses, methinks. ACLU is clever, but not as clever as they think they are - in reality they are being used to destroy the foundation of our society, damn it. And the sad part about it, no one will stop them.
Well the Atlanta Braves, Washington Redskins, Cincinnati Bengals, New York Yankees, et al better look out as well because they all offend somebody!!
Pretty soon the ACLU will ban all Mascots!!!
Oh, and the natural end game for their idiotic positions is the destruction of the Society that gave rise to them in the first place!
Once again, it is all about context, intent, etc. The idea of team names and mascots had nothing to do with offending someone. I can't wait until the ACLU sues Ford Motor company representing wild horses because the word Mustang is offensive to the few wild herds still roaming out here in the west..... :roll:
p.s. the Fronsac is growing and picking up body in the meantime. Too bad about this whole French thing. Cheerios!
