From Eagles to Osprey!

Today we had a vistor - Mr Osprey!

I feel pretty blessed to have such beautiful birds showing themselves
here at the Castle!
Maybe I will tie a few rabbits up & see who comes in for the kill.
That said -
I believe Osprey are the only Birds of Prey that eat only fish.
Often called the "Fish Eagle"

This is the first time I have seen an Osprey sitting in the backyard.

I am using a 300mm lense & it don't like being moved.
(on a Canon Rebel)
I would like to go up to 1000 & see the light reflect off his eye. (or Her)
Maybe 2 cameras are needed one with a short lense ready for action!

Seriously, what the duce?

The most exotic thing I can find around here is a Cardinal. There's nothing wrong with that but geez...an OSPREY? Jealous.

Look around for a nest

Often at top of a pole, spar tree, or most any pole-like man made structure, usually over water. Wild to watch them feeding the young'ns!

Keep eye out for Bald Eagles. They like to scare ospreys into dropping their catch. Then the eagle gets it, sometimes in mid-air.

Totally cool brother!! I don't have to travel very far to see wildlife, but I have never seen an Osprey!!

Damn. All I get is a million squirrels that keep destroying my bird feeders, a raccon that digs through my trash and a fox (not sure if it's rabid or not) running through my neighborhood.
