my account was recently put on hold because some one sent me a paypal with cigars for the description, apparently thats against their rules. any one else seen this happen?

WTF is going on?

People are treating cigars, really any tobacco product, like it's heroin or something.

Cigars are an easy target for those fun-haters who think they are better than everybody.

cigars and guns = two paypal no-no's

LOL, I'm one of those guys that thinks Alchohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives should be the name of a store, not a department of government.

We all ought to get together and start our own auction site/pay service call 'em ViceBay and VicePal -- we'd ONLY handle alchohol, tobacco and firearms (and ammo)! People trying to sell beanie babies and doilies would get their accounts suspended.

Hahaha - sign me up! Anything with a "no beanie baby" clause is worth something to me

Paypal isnt the only one. On the retail side, there are major pushes with credit card processors to ban any tobacco purchases with visa or mastercard. The problem here is that there is a big push agains cigarettes and these blanket policies they are passing are effecting all tobacco products. One important organization in this fight is the CAA or Cigar Assosiation of America. The CAA fights to inform senators and representatives of the differences between cigars and other tobacco items. The truth of the matter is that cigars are really not very bad for you from a health standpoint. Also, it is not the issue as it pertains to our youth. While teen smoking may be on the rise, I dont see many 14 year olds walking around with an OpusX.

Make sure you give your business to CAA partners. Most of the major catalogs support them as do cigar makers like General, Oliva, CAO, and a small list of others. If I can get a list I will post it.

Well, this is a bit of a thread jack, but since we are all ranting here, I thought I would skip starting a new thread.

Saturday, my fiance and I were walking around the Countryclub Plaza here in Kansas City. We stopped at a cafe for a glass of wine and a cigar. I asked the host for a smoking seat, and he suggested the upstairs balcony which was temporaily enclosed and heated for the winter months. So we went there, ordered our drinks and I had just finished lighting my cigar when the waiter came and said that I couldn't smoke my cigar there. He said, yes, this is a smoking section, but our new "corporate policy" forbids cigar smoking because of complaints by other customers. MAN was I PISSED! For my fiance's sake I refrained from causing a scene, but this is rediculous. We were the only ones sitting in this part of the balcony, and there was a closed door between us and the rest of the restaurant. Not to mention the fact that the entire upstairs was bar/lounge which was designated a smoking section as well! I did not even get to take a single puff on my cigar (an LGC Serie R Torpedo) I told my Fiance that I wasn't going to stay here and put up with that. so she excused herself to the Lady's room, and I took both our glasses of wine up to the bar and told them we were leaving. The waiter gave me an $18 ticket for the wine... THE NERVE! (The bartender was kind enough to void the ticket and apologised for our inconvienience) What is this wolrd comming to...no smoking in the SMOKING SECTION?!?

Spider,

I feel for you man. I get the same thing all the time here too. The thing is, that most of the time I am in a smoking section and people that complain about my cigar are cigarette smokers. That makes me hoping mad. Cigars smell so much better anyway. In the past I have done the same thing you have. I politely take my cigar and leave without paying for my drink. You would think the "smoking section" is self explanatory. If I ever get any trouble about settling up, I tell them that my cigar is more expensive then the drinks. And ask them if I pay for my drinks and stay, then they should pay for the cigar I am about to ruin. To this they never have a good answer.

Dude, that's messed up.
Cigarettes are nasty, I can't stand them. Cigars and pipes on the other hand are sweetness.

You think with all the crap going on about smoking that OTHER SMOKERS wouldn't try to further infringe on our rights.

You know that is very funny, a cig person complaining about a little cigar smoke, yet these are the same people who will empty their ashtray from their car in the middle of a parking lot, and then drive off. Or just throw the butts on the ground, rub it a little, and walk away.....the whole thing really stinks a whole bunch!!!!(end of Rant)

You can use PayPal for anything - just don't list any auction site, number or identify the merchandise when you pay - simply send another person money. Let's say we make a deal by PM here for some cigars and I'm in a hurry for them - I just send you the money with no identifying information as to what for. You send me the sticks. Guaranteed and easy as pie. They have no way of determining the purpose of any such money transfer. Folks! Just be cool! Operate under the radar! The way things are going you better learn how to be discreet in all things.

Keep in mind if you use PayPal, they will take a percentage. Beware if you are doing box splits and paying with this service.
