gate update!

as some of you may recall, back in july i posted about the gate project i was working on down i carbondale.

well here we are, october, and its finally done!

we are having the dedication at the national ornamental metals museum on friday oct. 14, just before repair days. (if anyone is in the memphis area and would like to attend, pm me)

How long does it take to make something like that?

And I LOVE the mask! How heavy is it?
 
I wish I had the space or, more importantly, the talent to make stuff like that!

Can you make a cigar ashtray with the same features?

Sometimes the most interested remain the most silent. It took me a while to learn that, but I learned it years ago. It's worth remembering. The "views" are just as important as the "replies." Trust me, it's true.
 
Nice work! I would love to commission something like that someday. First I have to obtain some property worthy of the effort!

This is actually one of my hobbies (decretive Iron). I am just in the begining phases of learning. Most of my time has been dedicated to building my shop. I finished my welding bench a month ago, finished my forge and my anvil stand yesterday. My anvil will be coming home this weekend.

Master Shake, are you interested in armour at all?

armor is actually one of the main things that got me interested in the first place...
alas, it is somewhat frowned upon in the artistic blacksmithing world. i would make some in my spare time, if i had any... :?
i made a coif back in highschool that was pretty hot, ill see if i can find a pic later

haha...thread hijack huh... :D

This was the first War I haven't fought in, in 12 or 13 years. Injury kept me out of it. But I'm fine now. (took a bad polearm shot to my right forearm, caused tendonitis) You should try to make the trip sometime. Antir has a great encampment. I'm there every year.
