I made a trip to my cigar shop this weekend and was able to purchase 4 God of Fire cigars (2 of the Don Carlos blend and 2 of Carlito's blend) for $29.95 each. I was wondering if anybody here has been able to find these cigars and how much they usually retail for? My tobacconist said that he was in the only one in the state of IL authorized to sell them....what're your guys' thoughts?

i found a website that said they retail for $6,000 for a box of 100???? thats with some fancy humidor though, but still, thats 60 bucks a stick! either that humidor costs 3 grand or the package is a rip off. they are in coffin boxes, so that also adds to the price of the stick and the size of the humidor.

Never heard of them, they any good? At $30.00 a pop I'd expect that they light themselves.

That sounds perfect for you guys who have mone money than sense. Since Bloofly has neither, somebody will have to send him one of the "mild" ones.

I had the chance to buy one of those at over 50% off a few weeks back!! Just couldn't stomach even 2K for some smokes and a humidor...Just ain't right I tell ya!

I have seen the Opus Humidor and it a really nice peice of furniture.
Haven't smoked any of these so i can't comment.
I have had a few cigars from Carlito Sr, and they were amazing!
Not that I would say his personal stash is the sme as these- but
one of the best NC's I ever smoked.

Let us know what you think of the cigars - I'm very curious!

rdsantos if the owner of the cigar store told you this he is not being completely honest. To date the only god of fires produced have been for the limited edition humidors. I myself have only been lucky enough to score carlitos blend. And 29.95 is a great price. They are not being produced for retail sale in boxes or singles until October. In October, 12 selected authorized retialers will start recieving shipments from God Of Fire Inc. More accounts may be opened at a later date to sell samplers etc. Below is a press release issued by God of Fire Inc. yesterday. While the person you bought them from my be one of the selected 12 retailers, he has most likely not started recieving shipments yet as it appears they are still in production. The cigars you recieved most likely came from the humidors.

The following is a public press release distributed to the retialers and customers of prometheus. The information below is intended for public release and is not protected by copyright.

INTRODUCTION

The God of Fire cigars were first introduced in November 2004 in the majestically crafted, limited edition humidors produced by Prometheus. Since then, there has been a great anticipation for the 2005 release among cigar connoisseurs all over the world. Finally, we are happy to announce that the 2005 release will be shipped to the God of Fire authorized dealers (http://www.god of fire.com) in October 2005.

Each God of Fire cigar is encased in its own coffin box and adorned with two bands. The main band features a dramatic color rendition of the God of Fire, bound to a huge rock and being attacked by an eagle for having stolen fire from Zeus, and given it to man.

The second band signifies who blended the cigar and what year the cigar was made. Carlos Fuente Sr. and his son, Carlito Fuente, have blended the God of Fire cigars. God of Fire by Don Carlos uses the Ecuadorian wrapper whereas God of Fire by Carlito, Cameroon. We are absolutely honored by the special blends created by the two living legends in the world of cigar making. Also, in the second band, we put the year of production.

After the harvest, the fresh green tobacco is hung in curing barns where their moisture is allowed to evaporate slowly. After over 6 weeks in the curing barn, the leaves gradually turn to a beautiful, rich shade of brown. The cured tobacco leaves are then fermented - after which they are aged for years before the Fuentes consider them ready for their finest cigars. Even though the cigars are made with aged tobacco, they have to be aged again after skilled torcedors rolled them. Carlos Fuente, Father and Son, age their cigars at least for four months before they release them from their aging room.

When the cigars are first made, they are in the embryonic stage in which their ultimate taste is still being developed. As they are aged, they go through the maturation. During the maturation, the filler, binder and wrapper leaves form a perfect unity and balance, and the taste of the combined tobaccos becomes even more enhanced. The cigars, which are aged for one year in an ideal environment, will taste far better than when they were first made. The taste of the cigar reaches its pinnacle as they are aged for longer years.

When you produce wine, you do not use aged grapes. You harvest grapes for that year's wine. However, in case of cigar making, you use the tobacco, which has already been aged for many years. The year on the bottle of vintage wine signifies the year of the grape harvest. However, you cannot put the year of the tobacco harvest on the box of the cigars. There is a good chance that the filler, binder and wrapper leaves are all harvested in different years. The year on the second band of the God of Fire cigars signifies when the cigar was produced. You can track how long the God of Fire cigars have been aged since their production from the year on the second band.

Carlito Fuente surprised me last spring when he told me that he had God of Fire by Carlito in the size of Pirámides made in the fall of 2004. We are celebrating our first anniversary by releasing these rare cigars in our 2005 Limited Edition God of Fire humidors. When these cigars are released, they will have been aged for a full year. In addition to God of Fire by Carlito, 2004 Pirámides, we will also release God of Fire by Carlito, 2005 Double Robusto and God of Fire by Don Carlos, 2005 Robusto in limited edition boxes of 10 cigars each.

After shipping the 2005 release in October 2005, we expect to ship the 2006 release in the fall of 2006. Until then, please enjoy our 2005 release and do not forget to age some of these vintage cigars even further, like fine wines, for added enjoyment in the future.
