Hello all,

I am a regular on the gun side of this, but this is the first time over here...

Here is my question and situation.

I was taken out for dinner on last friday night, and frankly it was one of those nights where you go "ohhh my, so this is why the Rich like being rich so much". My hosts were very close friends of another friend and when they found out I was the one of whom many stories had been told, asked My Wife and I to accompany them to Dinner after a hockey game. They treated me to a dinner like none other I have had, and I have eaten at some very top notch places, but this was as good as I can see it getting. After a wonderful dinner they were going to a late night Gala fund raiser, and we were going to be going home, and when we got in the car, He asked if I liked Cigars, and I said I did, but was clue less as to what was good and bad.

Well he said he had just the thing, and gave me a Uppman "after dinner" which had the cedar wrapping on it and was WONDERFUL to my noobish taste buds, BEST YET, the wife who usually hates all things smokey, (from bars to fish to breath) announced that she liked this one. He said it was a cheap cigar that smoked like a great one, and that most women seemed to tolerate the smoke.

Ok, So he was smoking something else, and he said it was a cuban from Dominican Republic, which is lost to me, but it was clearly a little stronger, and a bit smaller diameter and longer than the "after dinner" cigar I was enjoying.

Here is my question.. I wish to buy him something to let him know how much I enjoyed the whole event, and would like some direction. I also would like to buy some of the Uppman's that I was smoking, and want to know where is the best place, and what might be great cigar that I could buy him a box or 10 depending on price, and where would be a great place to buy them.

Here is the other problem, He makes HUGE money, the car we rode in was a custom Bentley, and the dinner had to run well over 1K for the four, so I don't want to insult him by buying him a box of something crappy, at the same time, he was clearly willing to smoke the Uppmans at what they run, so find me something that will pique his interest, let him know how much I appreciated the time we spent and most of all, not look like giving a prince a lump of coal.

THanks in advance

It really depends on how much you are looking to spend. I would suggest looking at cigarbid.com - they have some great deals. Look at something like a graycliff (it is usually overpriced - if you buy it in the bahamas they charge $20 a cigar. But cigarbid.com usually has great deals on them.

Here is a though - 3 really nice cigars packaged with a cutter:

Feel free to PM me with any questions. Good luck.

By the way - I've never been in a Bentley - how was the ride???

The car was stunning. Its an Arnage Milliner which is a factory custom. Its amazingly quiet for a car with 500 hp the leather was butter soft and felt like it was as thick as a baseball glove.

My problem with price is I make five figures he makes eight. How do i find something that he appreciates which doesnt break me.

Maybe instead of a cigar - get him a nice cutter. You can't have too many of them - take a look at the Xikars - they have a lifetime warranty. Every time he uses it he will remember your thoughtfulness.

Kind of depends on how much you are looking at spending. There is alot of great stuff out there. Lighters for instance can go from $10-$1000 or more. Give us an idea of a price range and we will trhow more stuff at you than you can imagine :D

Well I am pretty sure they dumped a grand on dinner, so going 10% as a thank you is possible. The issue again is, he can afford anything, I am looking at something a bit unusual, well regarded and maybe something he does not have. So lets call it a hunny bee ($100.00) as the approximate top end.
