Hi Guys; A guy I work with just came back from Nassau on a cruise. He brought back a 5 pak of Cohiba, Siglo II. Cuban seal tight on the box. Paid $40.00.
Real or Dupe????

Fakes!
Unless bought at an official LCDH they are 99% fake!
I'd say 100%, but well nothing is 100%

Open them up and give em a good smell...That should give em away!

I have a box of Fake PSD #4 EL03's that has impeccable packaging and construction. The only way to tell they are fake, is buy the flavor of the tobacco... :wink:

Help me out here.....LCDH?
I tried to tell him that and gave him the reasons that you can fake any seal and people are doing it all day long especially in tourist traps.

Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be getting one to sample. And I don't know if I'm good enough to tell the real deal anyway.
You know how people are.....He spent $40.00 bucks and He thinks they're the real thing. And when I ask him, he tell me they were the best he's ever had.
I've heard that the cap on a cuban is layered different than others also that the ash is very dark gray.

My boss gifted me a box of Cuban Montecristos...I asked him what he paid for them...$50 for the box of 25. I told him they were fakes. He got mad...I opened the box and they smelled bad and looked wrong. He is still mad at my arrogance for calling them fakes...I should have just thanked him and thrown them away!

That area of the world is known for selling fake cigars!
I do believe there are only 2 place to get the real thing.

I see this all the time!
People go down to the islands and buy cigars - they are always fake.
Some get them because they are so cheap.
Others buy them because they pay top dollar and figure that is because they are real.
Cigars are a luxury item, the real deal is never cheaper than
it should be!
But I have taken to not laughing or correcting people unless they ask.
Even then they don't like to know they are suckers in P.T.Barnems
circus - but it sad & true!

Some fights are not worht fighting.

1 note - as Smoka said - a real Habanos has a smell to it.
Kind of a barn yard chicken shit smell.
But some fakes are made with Cuban tobacco.
Some are pretty good!
But they are not the real thing.
People always say well it is "real cuban tabacco!"
Well just because it grows on Cuba does not amke it good!

I usually say thank you and toss it!

This guys think that just because it's outside the US and the label says so.....it must be! And $40.00 for 5 cigars!!!! :shock:
They just don't have a clue.
My short and limited education thus far has really opened my eyes. This is an art and it has to be studied!

yes telling people they got ripped off is a hard thing. It seems they get mad at you even though you are only enlightening them. Not here on the forum of course but I am always in a shop when someone walks in and shows of there new habanos purchase and is told they are fakes. 90% of the time I see them storm out.
