I'm amazed that for as long as I have been smoking these things, how little I know.
I have been lurking a bit and weighing how these considered opinions impact a guy that uses his own smoking time to escape any serious ruminations.
Since I'm way out of my depth beyond knowing which end gets the fire, I'll mostly restrict my posts to questions.

Here's one.

It's been awhile since one of my occasional roadtrips to Montreal and the return trip with an opened box of cubans. Never had a problem at the border. My understanding has been that this was legal as a small amount is considered for personal use and doesn't violate the terms of the embargo. I ask because it's been about three years since I made this trip and I am close to depleting what was a considerable supply.
Considering our evolving foreign policy, has this changed?

And another thing.

What has become of culebras which were so plentiful a decade ago?

A wealth of info here. Good stuff.

Welcome aboard and thank you for dropping in. Please stick around and add to the fun and edification. :D

As for Americans trying to play around with Cuban cigars, I couldn't tell you myself, but I'm sure some folks around here at AmBack or http://www.cigar.com could help you. If not, there are some highly knowledgeable and hardcore cigar folks over at http://www.cigarwise.com.

It is illegal to bring back any cuban cigars in any amount from canada or any other foreign country. You may be getting confused by a not so well known law that if you go on a licensed visit to cuba from the US you can bring back up to 100.00 USD in cigars back into the states with you for personal use. This is the only turely legal way to have a cuban cigar in the US.

That said the worst that is going to happen to you if you get caught is they will just take them away. Those customs guys love these things as much as we do.

Welcome aboard, Pop. This is a fun place to be, due, in no small part, to Bloofington. Ignore everything I say, and you'll be good.
