Help with my new humi

Hey guys I hate to add yet another post about a humidor, but I just bought my first one today and I am CLUELESS. I wish I wasn't such loaf when it comes to all things dealing with cigars, but hey i'm learning.

The one I bought it just a small desktop. It was cheap, and I mean CHEAP (hey i'm a college student). Its small and cedar lined, but it has no built in hygrometer. I'm gonna go out on a whim and guess that I really need one first and foremost. The lady told me to just wipe the inside down with a damp rag, wait a while and she sold me a bottle of propylene glycol and said to wipe it down with that, then put the humidifier in and I should be good. She said keep an eye on the humidifier and said use more solution anytime the inside of the humidifier turns back green.

Does all that sound right? Thanks for the help.

Do NOT wipe glycol inside your humidor.

Also, there is a TON of info on these very questions in recent threads. If you used the search feature you could probably come up with more answers than you need.

Welcome to the forum.

So why on earth would someone working at a cigar shop TELL me to wipe it down with water and then the solution. Gees she wasn't very helpful.

I found the info I needed, sorry for a duplicate post. But I did buy 5 new cigars today to try, i'm excited.

And now i'm spoiled, i'm back to legal in the U.S cigars.

I was on a cruise last week and I smoked a Cuban five days in a row. It was nice, and I know they were real because they were all bought at either La Casa Del Habano in St. Maarten or at Graycliff in Nassau. I want another Montecristo #2 :D . And I live an hour from the nearest cigar shop, so it looks like C.com will be getting a lot of business from me.

C.com is a great place from which to purchase stix!

I'm sorry that you have been spoiled; as a way to help, just send all your non cuban cigar orders to me, and I'll hold them for you. Then, when your memory of the Cuban seed has faded, I'll return them so you can enjoy them to their fullest.

Returned cigars will be in smoked condition and may not be suitable for further smoking.
