Hello All ,
Though I’ve read this forum many times I’m not much for posting.I have noticed some threads that arouse my curiosity. For instance,. Mr.Bloofington has stated on more than one occasion, that cigars from Nicaragua and Cuba should be keep at a lower humidity than cigars from other countries. I have three humidors that are filled mostly with cigars from Nicaragua I have a hard time keeping them below 75%.I don’t know what kind of damage might occur at this humidly. If Mr. Bloofington would care to elaborate I would be pleased to listen to his response .I’m relative new to smoking cigars and want to ensure that I’m doing everything in my power to keep my investment at there optimum
This is a wonderful forum .Lots of smokers in the know. Teach me.

Welcome to the postings Bert! Are your humidors hard to maintain below 75% or is that how you like them?

If it's your humidors there are a few things you can do, and easy one would be to put some cedar blocks in to absorb some of the humidity, you can simply take your humidification out for a while or get a smaller or different device all together. I prefer my sticks anywhere between 60-70 but prefer to to keep it in the lower or mid rage of that. I find my sticks burn better that way. I'm sure bloof will chime in here pretty soon, but I hope this helps a little :D

Hi cigarsmoka,
Yes,they are hard to maintain below 75%.I would like to maintain them around 70%.They just seam to run wild.I often find the one with my best smokes running higher than 77 to 78%.HELP!!!

What kind of Hygrometer are you using?

Are you sure it is acurate?

What type of devise are you using for humidity?

Where do you live? (location can effect RH)

CastleCrest,
I live in Tucson AZ.Very low humidity.I'm using a Diamond Crown,digital.OBTW.I work in a metrology lab.All my hygometers are calibrated using only the best equipment the tax payers money can buy  I have a 150 count Savoy and am using the divice that came with the unit.

They easy fix is Climmax Beads!
get the 65% kind and put them in dry.
Then after a day remove the devise and it should stay right on!

castle,
Strange thoughts are running through my head. What in the hell is a climmax bead?

Bert, I think everyone else has pretty much said it best. Better you heard from them on this subject, rather than AmBack's Resident Dumbe Blond. :duh:

Indeed it sounds as though your equipment is accurate, and you know your environment. Therefore, follow the good advice given, including the purchase of the Climaxx Beads. I don't use them but I hear they are the best for maintaining proper humidity when all else fails.

I have been using Climmax beads (Humidor type!)
for over a year and my humnidor has never been more on!
In my cabinet I use a set and forget, but keep the Climmax beads in there as well.
They keep the RH from going to high.
One of the best cigar products ever made.
Simple to use and work great!

Thanks to all for the advice, help.Climmax beads it is.Everyone take care.If your ever in AZ drop me a line. We'll burn one.

Hi all.

Beads are great and what I would suggest as well. However, IIRC, Climaxx has had some trouble recently filling orders. May I suggest Heartfelt Industries. I have the 65% beads from here. Absolutely awesome service and great prices. Some other great products as well. (and no, I'm not affiliated in anyway, just a satisfied customer)

Good luck with your humidity issues.

FWIW, I find my smokes, regardless of origin, smoke better between 65 and 68%.

I switched to the Heartfelt beads just last week. Dave ships same day so it was only 2 or 3 days before they were in my humi. They seem to work much much better than the standard humidifiers that came with my humidors.

I went with the 65% ones and its been dead on ever since. I think they are supposed to be accurate within +/- 2% but both of mine are spot on.
