I had a sour apple martini recently and found it to be a refreshing change from a regular vodka martini. Can anyone provide me with a recipe for this cocktail? A 50/50 blend of vodka and Pucker was suggested, but this was not the same as we were drinking.

Thanks for the help.

Calling all cars!!! Calling all cars!!!

All units converge, all units converge!!!

One Adam 12, One Adam 12, see the man, corner of 34th and Vine, needs a martini recipe, he'll be holding a bottle of Love Potion No. 9, see the man, needs a martini recipe.

Don't worry Captain Sir!!! We're sworn to protect and to serve, even martinis. Be back in a flash.

Make a regular DRY martini. Stir it with a sour apple flavored dum-dum. (fruit flavored lolipops given out at most banks and retail establishments.

By adding apple, grape, pear, whatever to the basic vodka, and vermouth too many people are calling drinks 'Martini's' on the wave of a new popularity.
I prefer the old standards served in a Martini Glass. Equal parts Ston Vodka, Triple Sec, and either fresh squeezed lime or lemon juice(Kamakazi, or Lemon Drop)
For an apple, melon, or other flavored martini, I use Ston Vodka, Sours mix , and one of the Pucker flavors, or Midori(equal parts)
Sours Mix: one lemon, one lime(squeezed and strained), sugar syrup, mixed in equal amounts(ie lime and lemon juice combined, add equal amount of sugar syrup).
These drinks are actually Sour's, not Martinis

What ARE you people talking about?

Martini:
  • Pour 1 oz. vermouth into a cocktail shaker.
Swirl vermouth around to coat sides of shaker.
    Pour out vermouth.
    Add ice
    Add gin--GOOD GIN.
    Stir.
Pour through strainer into a martini glass.
    Add olive(s).
DON'T MAKE ME COME OVER THERE!

Well, the poster asked about a sour apple martini, and being that one of my duties as Moderator is to be helpful, I typed "sour apple martini" on google, examined a couple of choices, and linked the page that seemed most helpful.

As for the rest of what's transpired, . . .

I'm taking The Fifth and I'm outta here.

Whooo, didn't mean to offend anyone. "Refreshing" = "wife will drink them too". I understand that to some, a martini is ONLY gin and a drop of dry vermouth. Then again, to some, beer is a tasteless, carbohydrateless, staw colored liquid meant to be consumed ice-cold. Haven't your heard of "martini bars"?

I think I'll stick to bourbon.

I'm with you Captain, I generally stick to bourbon and rye myself with an occasional foray into rum. By the way, one really hilarious thing about this thread here. From the time I was a little kid I always noticed that one quick way to start a war is ask a group of people how to make a martini.

By the time this thread is over, we might have to call in National Security.

Now we're talkin.
For a dry martini you can just show the bottle of vermouth to the shaker. Store the bottle of gin in the freezer. Bombay Saphire doesn't freeze and I keep my freezer pretty cold.

I always have a bottle of Bombay Sapphire in the freezer for those hot summer days when a Bombagina* on the rocks is a great refresher.

*One shot (1.5 oz.) of Bombay Sapphire per 4.5 ounces of Orangina, add ice and stir. Doubling this recipe will yield a nice big glass which you can suck down three of and not bat an eye on a 100 degree day. 15 minutes later you'd better be sitting down and done with your yard work or whatever got you so thirsty in the first place!!! Six shots of Bombay Sapphire sucked down in a few minutes WILL knock most folks off their feet.

Here's the martini recipe for my wifes favorites :D .

2 parts Rain vodka

1 part pucker (apple or grape)

Over ice in a shaker.

Shake vigerously until very mixed and very cold.
Pour thru strainer, into an appropriate martini glass, enjoy  then repeat  !!!

Like that old joke: Guy walks up to the bar and orders a dry Martini. The bartender pours gin over ice, stirs and strains into a Martini glass. Before handing the drink to his customer, he passes the glass under his lips and whispers: "vermouth".

The customer takes a sip, passes the drink back to the bartender and says: "You said it too loud!".

Yeppers! Not much worse than a watery Martini.

There is a disturbing trend afoot to call a Martini, any drink that is served in a Martini glass. This is a big, wide, wonderful world folks and you should certainly drink whatever you like. However you make a mistake when you call that drink made with Bailey's, creme de menthe, and Ovaltine a "Martini". It may be terrific but it ain't a Martini.

Things are called what they're called for a reason. You can sit and watch your refrigerator all day long but it will never be a television. Likewise, you can serve a Fluffernutter and banana sandwich in a Martini glass, but that don't make it a Martini.
