I am thinking about getting Lasik eye surgery and would like some input from anyone who has had it or knows about it. I value all information and would like to know what you all think about it. Thank you in advance for your input.

wow, Rick..
How did you do that??

The wife just had Lasik on Monday morning!

She just had the Monovision prcedure done, where each eye is done slightly different, one for long distance and one for close in, the steroscopic feature of our vision makes them both work together, or something like that.
The procedure was fast we were there 2 hours total on Monday, in the door to walking back out. And, get this, I watched the whole procedure on a TV screen in the waiting room!
It was neat, and she had nearly perfect vision right off the table. SHe had to wear some Stevie Wonder glasses for a few days, but she's doing great.
Now, my wife had those kooky little glasses you see, but they were made of the lightweight plastic, cause those lenses were THICK bro! Her vision was seriously pretty poor, and this is like a whole new lease on life.

Pm me if you want any more info, I'd be happy to help.
I SAY GO FOR IT!!!

Rob I'm glad to hear D's procedure went so well! Great!

Rob, Thank you for the response, I am glad to hear that hers went so well. How is she adjusting to the monovision? I think I will just have the Lasik and wear reading glasses if needed. I am one of those whose glasses are as thick as cock bottle bottoms. I am legally blind with out corrrection. Been wearing glasses or contacts since I was 5 years old so to wear reading glasses would not bother me none.

I'm still waiting for more information on it. So far I am loving the contacts that I got 6 months ago. They are so much better than glasses; but the thought of never having to put in contacts or take them out again is tempting.

I've also thought about getting Lasik, but am too scared.

Rick,
She's adjusting very well, thre is a little fog around objects, but they say it is very normal for a few weeks.

Doc, there are no nerve ending in the eye, no pain brother.

DO IT!

Rick,

I got my corrective eye surgery through the Navy. They don't offer LASIK. Instead, they offer PRK (photorefractive keratectomy). It was basically the forerunner to LASIK and uses a laser to reshape the cornea. There's no flap like there is for LASIK, but I understand there is a little bit more pain the first few days and it takes a little longer for the eyes to recover (a few days or so).

I can't speak for LASIK, but for corrective eye surgery in general, I would highly recommend it. I went from 20-400 to 20-15 now. (I got it done in May 2005.) Here is a website that gives more details about PRK and LASIK:

Whatever you choose, good luck! PM me if you want more details...
