Alright, so this isn't really important nor interesting, but I just bought a 30 gig iPod today and have to tell everyone how great it is. I spent about three hours standing around Circuit City waiting for them to install the adapter in my car, then I had to go straight to work withought playing with my new toy.

Well, I just got home a little while ago, got the Ipod loaded up, and am listening to some Yonder Mountain String Band right now. I can't begin to express how excited I am right now. Even with the stock earbuds, I can hear all kinds of stuff I never even heard when playing it on cds. All of the background in the live show is clearly audible.

This is so freakin' awesome!

That's excellent, man. I was hoping for one for my birthday this year - not even close. I am looking to put down a major hint for my wife - I am guessing this is the way for me to go.

I got my wife and daughter iPod nanos for bday's this year - and I love the sound. I think I need more space though - the 30 gig should do it.

Can you update me with other thoughts when you have some time to spend with your toy?

I have the Shuffle and I really like it. I wish I would have a larger one but so be it. It works for me.

I love mine. It is great to work out with, cut the lawn with, plug into speakers at home, etc. It is pretty cool that you can make an entire CD wallet obsolete once you load them all into your itunes.

Also, just out of curiosity, how much did it cost to get an adapter put into your car? The only complaint I have with the ipod is that there is no good FM transmitter out there. The one I have is pretty lousy.

I never leave the house without my iPod. I really hate the radio and all the stupid bantor that goes with it. I have a set of powered speakers in the garage that I plug it into when I'm out there smoking.

Bigcat, I don't know what FM transmitter you're using, and I agree that most of them aren't very good, but check out this link. Its a review of all FM Transmitters:

I think I'm gonna get the DLO Transpod which you can see here:

Yeah, I made about 150 CD's in my car go bye bye. That only took up a fifth of the iPod.

The adapter itself was $45 at Circuit City, so I'm sure it could be found cheaper someplace else. I paid another 45 to have it installed because my dash is such a PIA to take apart. The thing is, it only works on certain Pioneer head units. I bought a new head unit a few months ago that could be ugraded to play Sirius Radio and an iPod. I've since done both, and hindsight is 20/20. I should have done had everything installed at once.

I know there are other direct connect adapters and I think most are around the $40-$60 price point. Whether or not those will allow you to control the iPod through the head unit like mine does, I have no idea.

Dejoro and quagmire, thanks for the info guys. I'll have to give that list of transmitters a careful look. Unfortunately I only have the stock radio that came from the factory with my 2000 grand am, so I think I am outta luck on an adapter. I am due for a new car in the next year or so though, and I hear that GM is making all of their cars ipod compatible. So i got that going for me, which is nice

If anyone is looking I can get super deals on the current gen Ipods. Let me know if anyone is looking for a holiday gift for someone...or one for yourself.

I don't know if this would be compatible or not but worth a shot checking out.

Thanks man, that looks great. I am going to have to look further into it since the cost isn't that much higher than most FM transmitters. I appreciate it.
