Hello all, Newbie here. I've smoking a cigar a week since this past summer. I recently decided to look into life insurance. The application asks abour nicotine of tobacco use. Naturally I'd like to leave that one blank as I'm sure it.s going to increase the premium, but I'm also afraid of getting bagged when they do the exam. Is there a way to detect casual smokers? Anyone have this problem before?

Discuss it with your agent and see if one cigar a week really constitutes tobacco use. I'm sure they'll say yes, and my advice about lying on applications for anything is, . . .

don't.

They want to know about any tobacco over the past 3 years. They will test at the exam but it is not detectable after 3 weeks so make sure you lay low 3 weeks before the exam. If it is found later that you did smoke they cant proove it was before you applied and you will get better premium. But you did not hear it from me.

My Insurance guy told me that one cigar a year will count as a smoker. I don't know about him or is agency anymore but that's just what I heard
