moist cigars

I am a bit new to the cigar world, and have been enjoying every minute of it. I have a question.....

I ordered one of the Friday Deals a couple weeks back and when I got them the sticks where very very soft and moist. I have been letting them sit in my humi and was wondering if that is going to affect the smoking, and if there is anyting I should do other than let them sit for a bit?

thanks for the info all

I too am wondering about this. I recieved the Robusto sampler "One Day Deal" a few weeks back and they too felt, and look really moist. I have them in the humi (of course) now and am wondering if there's anything special I may need to do to help them dry out a little bit.

Just let them sit for a while, maybe a week or two. You should be lucky they ship them on the moist side, otherwise they will crack during shipment. IMO, you should always let your newly ordered cigars rest. No telling what they went through in shipping. LEAVE THEM BE!!!!

leave them be....

the hardest thing to do....

I will keep that hidden at the bottom for a while.

Thanks for the heads up.

I got a one day deal, and smoked it that day! tasted great, and burned perfectly! :)

Sometimes you cannot resist, and it will turn out okay, but the best advice, and the hardest to follow, is let them age. They will taste better, burn better, and you will enjoy them more!!

NO TOUCHIE NO TOUCHIE

Think I will hit a local shop and get something to take my mind off of them

Husher, if you don't want to risk smoking them too soon just send them to me and I will "take care" of them for you. When you are ready for them, I will send them back to you. :pigsfly:

If you have a humidor ( I am assuming desktop) that you have secured a relative humidity in, then you will want to place your newly purchased cigars into that humidor for just around three weeks, in order for them to come around to the same humidity as the rest of your cigars. You will notice that your relative humidity will slightly spike for a few days after you put the new cigars in as they have a bit more moisture to them then the rest of the contents of the humidor.

Do not smoke these cigars off the truck. Overly moist cigars tend to hide the flavors of the cigar as well as pose a threat close up as you get into the midway point. This usually leaves you with a "mushy" hard to draw cigar. Patience is a virtue my friend. :)

I dont even smoke cigars right from the shop. I knwo their humidor is sopt on and i know the guys who run the place well and would concider them friends (usually end up with a free stick or two). ... I still keep every cigar for more than 3 weeks before i smoke them.

I also found that putting a date on them helps me keep track. I keep the celophane (sp?) on so this makes it easy to do that. Just a little sticker with the date it hit my humi.

Big Paintbrush sent me an excel file to help me track my stash. PM me if anyone would like a copy.
