on the grass
i was going to post this in the "what did you smoke today" thread but I thought it more appropriate to post iton its own.

A few months a go I picked up a few Sancho Panza Cervantes. I smoked them quickly, except for one. It has been sitting in my humidor until today.
I knew today that I would have the time to sit around and have a good long smoke. I had a great lunch (salami and mayo on a multi grain bun and a cup of light chicken soup) and took my radio out on my 7th floor balcony to have my smoke with Rush. With a glass of ice cold unsweetened iced tea and torch lighter in hand I began the most relaxing hour and a half of my life.
The stick has a velvety sheen to it and a slightly oily feel. I brought it to my mouth to moisten the cap before the cut. Sweet and rich. Then a quick clip and I was ready to go. I toasted the foot lightly and blew to make sure it was even. A light blow through the cigar to clear it and then my first draw. What I found was a sweet smoke with the smoothness of a great vanilla bean ice cream. It had zero after taste. The ash held almost 2 inches all the way to the nub. Half way through I noticed a slight black pepper taste and a slightly bitter (but still enjoyable) black walnut taste. The pepper died out with 1/3 or so left. The rich creaminess never faltered.
I sat in the sunny and 60* weather and tried to find a cloud in the sky but found none. The tea was a perfect complement. I sat and watched life rush past me. People down below were getting in and out of their cars and running errands. A repair man rifled through his tools. The pool for the complex was being refilled and filtered for the first time of the year and the leaves were budding before my eyes. I sat there and realized that THIS is why I got into cigars. Relaxation.
Near the end of the cigar I started to realize my time here today was drawing to and end. IT made me wish I had a pipe to put the nub into and finish the cigar and buy me a few more minutes of bliss.
All good things must come to an end.
I bought a few more of this sticks today and in a few months when they are good and ready I will enjoy them once again. Until then I will wait, though I don’t want to.

must not be a no smoking ban in you're state yet? No I'm glad you had a good time. I like those kinda days to.

EXCELLENT!!!!! I wish I had that kind of palate Kuzi, you did a great job of describing that one for sure. Reminds me of my first spring cigar a couple of weeks ago, similar weather, but I sat in my back yard enjoyed the bird songs, and read instead.

There you go brother, well done!

That is exactly the kinda day that got me in smoking cigars...

About a month ago: perfect weather, peaceful scene, and a 5 vegas gold churchill... my palate is not as developed, but I knew it was a great moment.

I live for that evening cigar great day moment. It is pure bliss.
