I'm going on a cruise soon, and our first stop will be in the Bahamas. I want to smoke my first Cuban, but I need help on what to get. I've been told to go find Graycliff, so i'll definitely go there but what should I get when I get to Graycliff? Can anyone with some experience in Nassau help me out? I'm pretty new with cigars, but I don't wanna look like a total idiot when I get to Nasau. Thanks!

from what i heard, if your looking for cubans (real ones anyway), the bahamas is not the place to look. theres a dealer certificationt that you need to look for, i forget the name now but some one will know it here. stay tuned

To be sure you're getting a genuine Cuban, the only place you can go and be absolutely positive is a La Casa Del Habanos store and there aren't any in the Bahamas. Stores in that area are said to sell their fakes to tourists and keep their genuine ones for locals and people who kno their stuff (no offense intended). If you're still set on a Cuban though (and who could blame you), go to http://www.cigaraficionado.com/Cigar/CA ... 0,,00.html. They're you'll find what will help keep you from getting ripped off.

Locate the Graycliff hotel. If you like mild/medium smokes, go with the Original. It is the red label. If you like a little bit more body and kick, go with the Professionale. That is the blue label. If you like a full body, all out cigar, go with the espresso. It is the black label. I have all three labels in my humidor now, and they are some of my favorite smokes. Have fun, and obey your tour guide!! LOL

Welcome to the newbie, is that going to be your handle? Good choice if it is.

Now you listen to the Captain, and it is guaranteed that you won't go wrong for sure. While you are at it go back through some of the other threads, and you will learn a lot on this forum.

Don't be afraid to ask questions, everyone here is quite friendly, and more than willing to help!!!

Enjoy your trip, and Merry Christmas!

Warning!

I was down in Nassau earlier this year. Be advised that whatever Cigar shop you stop in, DO NOT listen to the person behind the counter stating that they have "Aunthentik" ( ) Cubans. No Such thing. You will be better off buying from the cigar lounge on the ship and enjoying a dominican!

I am only saying this from experience. I got off the ship and lit up one of my own. After walking around the flea market, right outside of the cruise ship terminal, every shop I passed people would whisper "real Cubans". Out of interest, I decided to ask one person what they had. He pulled out a Cohiba that had 10 white dots above the word Cohiba, and it looked dry as anything.

As for the Graycliff cigars; they are excellent! Capt is very knowledgable and everything he says, you should write down!

Enjoy your trip my friend.
